SOB has a bad layout

Maybe if they did not name it son of beast, which immediately brings comparisons to it's classic forbearer, people would not be so dissapointed with it... Just a thought.

No one should be disappointed. They're both long, powerful, fast, intense, one-of-a-kind, have some of the most mind blowing helixes, great drops... Neither are airtime machines. They just pack a big, long punch! SOB and The Beast are two of my fave woodies and I have trouble deciding on the best. SOB has the drop and the loop. Beast has the scariest part of a ride(the helix) I've ever experienced. Respect PKI for trying to please with the two longest coasters in the US. No other has attempted the best the venerable Beast. :)

Well, my post above was a little premature for this season. I still feel the first helix should be smaller, but the banking is perfect. Would like more airtime, the only spot was the hill after the second helix, but it was minimal. The speed on that thing is great, and it seemed so much smoother than last year.

I love SOB, it is always the first thing I ride when I get in the park. The only bad thing I have to say about it, is the cars. They have no leg room. It is probably my #2 coaster, after Millenium Force.

I agree with choo man chu, but i do like the very start of the ride where there is a quick dip and turn before the lift hill. I think this is a great element on coasters and one that is becoming less and less prevelant on modern coasters.

And the loop is NOT a gimmick! How else did you expect a woodie to get a loop. It wouldn't be a gimmick if it came out of CP, huh? It would be the greatest coaster ever. Pah-lease! Be glad that a park wanted to make a chance with a looper. It was bound to happen. Why not at the "Wooden Coaster Capital of the World"?

I don't know. You also have to remember that it's layout is a remake of Revolution, but a new changes and different transitions.
