SOB has a bad layout

I personally think that SOB has a bad layout. The trains naturally destroy the structure, and there are no air hills... 'scept for one (kinda)... I think they should have opted for a single out and back hyper! That would have been incredible.

And the loop is such a gimick! It's just for people to say "AND IT EVEN GOES UPSIDE DOWN."

I still like the ride, but I think everyone would place SOB above Beast if it provided some amazing air.

Just my 2 sense...

I thought the drop on SOB was just awesome. Nothin' like being 218 feet above ground on a wooden coaster!

-------------
WOW! It's just like "Speed 2", only it's a bus instead of a boat!
In my opinion, Airtime isn't EVERYTHING. I think I will enjoy Son of Beast because of it's insane speeds and violent ride.

I don't think the loop is a gimmick. One of the engineers suggested since it will be the world's tallest and fastest coaster, why not throw in a loop; the looping woodie was born.

You mean reborn, don't you? In the early 1900's there were quite a few looping coasters, just they were full of insanely high Gs.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
I enjoy airtime, but I don't think that every coaster has to have it. My main complaint about SOB is the loop slows down the pace and energy of the ride. I think it would be better without the loop.
If the SOB had some padding on the lap bar so that I wouldn't have walked away from the ride bruised, I would have ranked it above the beast on my personal all time favorites.

I agree: airtime isn't everything. It's nice to have it on some rides, like ghostrider, but not every ride has to have it. Sometimes speed and pure insanity are just enough.
It would have been nice to have an out and back section before the loop, and then have it head into the helix section. Would have made for a great all around combo. I like helices(plural?) as much as the next person. But, besides the loop and the first drop, there is not much else too this ride. (except alot of shaking)

"And none may dare entreat further, for to invoke death is to utter the final prayer."
I like the layout a lot, and, surprisingly, I like the loop also. That's mainly because it's the smoothest part of the ride and gives a cool break before the latter violent part of the ride.

I like airtime, too, but it's not my favorite aspect of a coaster. I prefer to have my senses overwhelmed on a coaster and SOB does that pretty well.
I have to admit, as a former KI home-parker I'm not really that interested in SOB. Sure, I'd love to ride it, but on my next visit I'm more interested in re-riding the Beast. KI - let's get more traditional in years to come...
SoB doesn't have the airtime of some other woodies, but to me it's the best out there. It has plenty of G's around corners and it keeps its speed very well through the ride IMO. If I were near PKI I'd be spending every free day I had riding SoB.
I think SOB would be a lot better with more air-time, as well as the helixes tighter. The two helixes seem to just roll through, where the helix on Beast seems to push you down in the seat. I would like the helixes to have a smaller diameter, and bank the track a little more to really force you down in the seat, giving some great G's. Basically I think it needs more vertical g's, both positive and negative. Oh well, I'm still going to be riding it tonight and tomorrow. :)

How can you complain its a prototype its not gonna be the greatest I'll admit that. Differen't peeps like airtime more than the out-of-control fealing...there's nothing wrong with that. I still like it better than The Beast for that reason.

You can't run and you can't hide...the beasts at PKI
Honestly, I liked SOB better than the Beast. The Beast was good, but something about the raw power and madness of SOB the whole way through just fascinated me. Anyways, I love the twister woodiehyper layout. I was a little disappointed about minimal airtime, but the Beast isn't made for airtime either. PKI has the best helixes out there, SOB's crazy 45 degree spiral of doom, and the Beast's mindblowing finale helix. I did totally fall in love with that part of the Beast, I just wish the lap bar didn't go down tow notches too far! (What is that called again?)

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
Judging from the back of the latest issue of "Rollercoaster!" Son Of Beast looks like a fun, intense layout.

There is only two coasters that I didn't have a single drop of fun on and I don't care to ride them ever again. One is Batman:TheRide and the other is, you guessed SOB. I don't like painful circles connected by a loop.

Not really, I have fun and respect all other coasters including kiddie coasters. It takes a lot to displease me. When I enter a park I make sure to get out of the 'enthusiast mind-frame' so I can enjoy my park visits. I won't complain aboot brakes, stacking, or anything stupid like that. I won't ride those particular coasters again because, flat out, I didn't have any fun.

I don`t see how you can`t have fun on Son of Beast. I rode it thirty times last year and once this year for a total of thirtyt-one times! I think its one of the best wood coasters. It ranks right up there with The Beast for number one wooden coaster! The two helixes have so much power and speed. The loop is not a gimmick either, it is one of the smoothest and most fun parts of the ride. The roughest coaster I`ve ever riden is Mantis at Cedar Point and trust me, SoB is a lot smoother!
I personally loved SOB. It doesn't matter how much air time you get. Either you like it or you don't. and obviously you don't.

good thing we all like different coasters or we wouldn't need this webpage ;)
