HW Area hotels - Jasper or Tell City?

All,

I'm starting the hotel search for attending HoliWood Nights, and obviously this late in the game all the nearby hotels are booked. So far, what I can find open are rooms in either Jasper (north) or Tell City (south).

Since I've never even been down in the HW area, any suggestions on where to stay?

Thanks,
EV

Have you tried the Quality Inn in Huntingburg? It's not quite as far away as Jasper and it is decent.

Good Luck!

There's a Comfort Inn in Ferdinand that I'm looking at...It says it's only 8mi from HW, which is a lot closer, mile-wise, than Jasper it appears...Anyone know if this is the case?

If you got a camper stay at lincoln state park but u'll have to get it over there say wed. or thurs. nite due to what weekend it is. Other than that Ramada and Holiday Inn Express are still open and it's only a 15 min drive from Tell City. Which if you went to Jasper is a tad bit longer. Still if you can get reservations in Huntingburg; that would be your best bet.

I booked the Ferdinand Comfort Inn a while ago. It looked like a good location based on a consultation with my map but I guess I'll find out soon enough! Tell City and Jasper both seemed a little out of the way for somebody coming from the east. *** Edited 5/2/2006 6:33:18 PM UTC by millrace***

We'll be staying at the Sleep Inn in Jasper. We've stayed at the Days Inn in Jasper before and its just fine. It takes about 20/30 minutes to get to HW from there, but it's a very easy drive. Heck I drive farther to work every day!

If you stay in Jasper, be sure to eat at the Schnitzelbank!

I'm also staying at the Days Inn in Jasper, it's always been fine in the past.

And what Andy said, be sure to stop for some great German food.

I can vouch for Days Inn Jasper too. Clean room when I stayed. It is about a 15-20 minute drive. Has a decent chinese restaurant on site. There is a go-cart/arcade/putter golf around the corner too...

The chinese restaurant at the days inn is the nicest in jasper. And the Go-Cart Arcade putt putt place is only a couple years old. It is really nice. The bowling alley is very close as well.

Check out the Jasper Hampton Inn too its a little more expensive but you get a free breakfast so its worth it.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The Jasper Inn used to be a Holiday Inn. I do not think it is owned by a chain, so it might be really nice.

Get an RV on-site, have a campfire and a few beverages, and wake up to Raven outside your front door... :)

Is alcohol prohibited at the HW campsite? :)

There is no HW campsite. If you are talking about Camp Rudolph, then I believe alcohol is permitted, but rowdiness is not.
