Anyone here going? Is this an annual event? If so, how many people usualy show up?

This will be my second time to the park so, I'm not very familiar with the whole park layout. If they don't have any kind of construction tour, how close will we be able to get for pictures of the Flying Turns.

For those of you who don't know, it is on April 29th and registration must be recieved by the 15th.

There seems to be an opening event every year but the sponsoring club changes from year to year.

You'll be able to get quite close to the flying turns site. It's pretty much in the middle of the park, and you can walk around the construction perimeter.

You could can get pretty close to the Turns, when I was there on Sunday I could have climbed on the structure, then again they didn't have several hundred park goers to worry about. I'm sure come opening day they will have the job site sectioned off since most people don't know how to keep a safe distance away. You should be able to still get close enough to get some good pictures, especially from the Looper.

I think this may be the third year they had some sort of coaster event. Each year it has been put on by a different club.

LOL Dan, why am I envisioning a whole bunch of KFT pictures on the web with upside-down trough? :)

If you didn't just get upside-down pictures of the person sitting across from you. :)

...or drop your camera and have it clank you on the head a few times as it be-bopped around the inside of your cage before shattering into a bazzillion expensive little pieces!

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

Are ACE members not real coaster enthusiasts?

I'll leave the "real coaster enthusiast" comment alone

Now that I've stopped laughing....

I look at the schedules of parks. I try to stay away from them when there are "groups" listed as being at the park on that day. Why? Groups mean bigger crowds. If I have a choice of going to Knoebels on a day when I already know a group is going to be there, or on a day when I see there is nothing scheduled, I will take that latter. It's a two hour trip for me... I can go on any weekend... or if I want, I can take a vacation day. It's not like I am set in stone.

So, I try to stay away from the park on days that I know it will be the destination of many folks. Now if it would be the "Elysburg Senior Citizen Quilting Circle's annual picnic", I wouldnt' mind it so much because those folks won't be waiting in line for ride after ride on the coasters. However... a coaster event is a different story.

Besides, when in line I can only listen to conversations concerning the "number of board feet of lumber in Phoenix" or the "number of bolts in Twister" or "the nuances of properly greesed track and wheels" for so long before I start having suicidal / homicidal thoughts. *** Edited 4/6/2006 1:00:20 PM UTC by SLFAKE***

But there still aren't any long lines at Knoebels, even on an "event day." Besides, the POP price on opening weekend can't be beat!
