Goodbye Old Friend - Mr. Six

Six flags reported that Mr. Six will be nixed to make way for more "family friendly" park advertising.

I thought this was one of the most original and fresh characters that we've seen in years. Now, maybe we'll find out more about the actor/dancer who portrays him.

When I asked people what they think when I say Six Flags they say the old guys dancing (refering to Mr Six). They can't remove him, it's almost a household name now. As matter of fact at school today someone was listening to the VengaBoys CD today (dunno why) they suddenly spurted out, "Oh the Six Flags song!" *** Edited 12/2/2005 2:22:52 AM UTC by Keith2005***

Mr Six not family friendly?

Didn't he invite families to come to the park and play?

He showed that older people can be fun.

They should use him to get families to bring grandparents with them to the park!

I'm against "outing" Mr. Six:) Can't you just imagine would happen if people found out that you were that character? They would either a) wan't to kill you because they found you incredibly annoying or b) people would make you do that stupid dance over and over...

I'm sure that with intellectual property laws that said performer cannot ever play Mr. Six again, even if the character is axed.

I'm not sure, but was Six Flags attendance up from a few years ago? Did the character help attendance at all? I also think it is stupid to ax Mr. Six. Everytime that commercial would come on, I would stop whatever and watch! I personally though it was great advertising.

I also think it's a bad idea. Mr. Six was great! I'll actually miss his dancing. How much more family-oriented could you ask for than Mr. Six?

Mr. Six did everything he could to invite people of all ages to take a break from everyday life and spend a day at one of the parks. If given enough time to find his way into more hearts, I am sure he would have been as well loved as Garfield, Snoopy, and maybe even the rat himself.

Six Flags murdered a nice old man. He's the best thing to ever happen to them, and they simply killed him.

I feel sad today. I love you, Mr. Six. I'll miss you.

R.I.P.

I'm not aware of any other rides besides Mr. Six's Pandemonium (maybe there are more?), but I remember when Pandemonium first opened there were reports that all of the "Mr. Six" signage was intentionally placed in a way to be removable in the future if necessary. Like they just sort of added a little extra sign that says "Mr. Six" above the Pandemonium logo, that isn't necessarily a part of the Pandemonium sign itself.

They were prepared. ;)

I'd like to see a link to Mr. 6's obituary if anyone has it. If this proves true, in my opinion it's the first misstep of the new Snyder operated SFI.

I tend to disagree. A campaign like Mr. Six could only last so long before people started having murderous thoughts about him/her/it. If anything maybe they could've safely gotten ONE more year out of it, but anything after that would've been counterproductive IMO.

That means steering away from “thrill-seeking teenagers” and establishing partnerships with fast-food restaurants

I guess no more Major thrill rides and coasters, meaning a loss in ALOT of attendance since teenagers are alot of who goes to these parks. FU SNYDER. SF is turning into Mcdonalds, wow. Even here in Ontario there is no SF park yet everyone knows the vengaboys song as SF and Mr.Six as we do get SFDL commercials and SFOG commercials on TBS. Personally i like Keiran Burke better ATM and for once it seemed SF started to smarten up but, it was too late. I hope Snyder ends up being an alright guy.

The Star Telegram article says, "Snyder has proposed making the parks more appealing to families with young children and dropping the Mr. Six marketing campaign." I think we all knew that at least. The other article doesn't make it clear (to me at least) that Six is dead and buried either.

SFI could easily have gotten another year out of that campaign. How long has the Energizer bunny been around?

Yes, and how much money are these teenagers spending at the park? Virtually nothing. They skate by with a cheap season pass and then bring $10 bucks for a soda to the park. Snyder is proposing to raise season pass prices which is an absolute MUST! Teenagers are not the kind of business you need to operate a successful amusement park. (at least not teenagers alone ;) )
