Goodbye Old Friend - Mr. Six

ROFL...That's good!
I wouldn't say that I was a big fan of Mr. Six, but it gave some uniformity to the brand. I was astounded when someone made a Mr. Six sandcastle in the new Hurricane Harbor at SFA. I think my biggest complaint would have to be the song which sounded horribly outdated because--well it was. It was kind of the equivalent of Cadillac using Led Zepplin to sell the STS. If you think that's an unfair comparison, life moves fast in the dance music world--real fast.

Now if they gone the PacMan route and introduced a Mrs. Six, then they might have had something:)

What a wonderful idea! That would help kill the whole Pervert/Pedophile comparison as well, as manufactured by some news media like the Boston Herald article...

"Branding experts say the odd-looking Mr. Six — whose TV ads often featured him luring teens into a bus — doesn’t appeal well to parents"

Are they insinuating that Mr.Six is a pervert? Who are these "Experts" anyway?

I like Mr. Six BECAUSE he is a little creepy. Something about him prevents you from forgetting him after the commercial, same as Ronald McDonald and the Dimatifite(sp?) that climbs under your toenail.

Maybe they'll go back to the old SFWoA ad where the weird people brag about them passing CP to get there.
Six Flags would ditch Mr. Six because he's considered a little creepy and possibly on the perverted side, but they continue to use Batman everywhere? He kept a young boy in a cave! lol
Yeah, this is total bs. I have We Like to Party on my ipod and pictures of him on it also. I <3 him. He's not creeepy.... I am a teenager, and Mr. Six isn't the only thing that brings me to the park... I go to have fun!

I also have his shirt!!

Mr. Six may be creepy, but then again, so are most of the characters created to pitch products. For example, a tall red-head in clown makeup who also spends an excessive amount of time around kids. I'm sure some of them will end up entering into partnerships at SF parks with the Red Zone crew.
In my teens, I SOOOO wanted to be Batman's Boy Wonder.

Did I just go to far? lol

I have to say good riddances to him. His dancing annoyed the hell outta me. The song however is catchy. He is not the reason people came to the parks, because we would have to see old people having coronaries to that dancing.

Anyhow the ride can be called pandemonium, whats wrong with that. Its not doing anything different since he really has nothing to do with the ride. Anyhow, how many parks do you see that have mascots that are all over the place besides the cedar fair obsession with the peanuts gang which mostly constitutes the younger crowds, which is in part a good thing to associate with. Lets be honest did he sell the point to go to those parks, or did we go for what those parks have to offer. Besides if it were a big deal, then snyder would have axed all the superheroe themes as well, which would be much more hurting to the general public, because you ride the rides which are more closely linked to those characters. *** Edited 12/3/2005 7:19:32 AM UTC by MagnunBarrel***

Has it ever been revealed who plays the part of Mr. Six?
I really hate to see Mr. Six go. I thought this was the best advertisement for Six Flags in many years. If Six Flags wants to go more in the direction of Family Friendly then why not incorporate Looney Tunes much more in their advertisements? 99% of their souveniors are looney tunes so why not?
Ok... if Mr. Six appeals to Teens that a good thing! Teens spend with no regard to how much it is... seriously. Apealing to teens is a very good thing!
Rathergoodbear: good point about the characters that pitch things.
Look at Direct Way. That lady with the hair-helmet is scarey. The Maytag repair guy, Wendy's where's the beef lady and even Burger Kings new BK guy, aka PlasticFace, they're like mediocre-heros for the masses. Or something? (Shrug)..

Wendy's wheres the beef lady!! I don't remember those commercials, but my aunt was just talking about them the other day. When were they around?

Coastergurl, the Wendy's "where's the beef?" ads were around in the mid 1980's.

Teens spend with no regard to how much it is...

That may be true, but they don't start out with much to spend in the first place, and once they're broke, they're broke.

Astroworld and now Mr.Six both died in 2005, Damn what a year

Magnun, how many parks have mascots that are all over the place? This year, I've seen candy bars, a Great Dane, a large sponge, and a chipmunk (at least my guess is it's a chipmunk).
They have a good amount, of mascots in the parks, i agree, but mostly many are center around kids. This adult concept or teen concept seems out of place. It is more geared for families to go take the kids, teenagers in my opinion are there for rides. Case in Point though is the older group going more towards the superheroes at six flags. My friends had a major argurment who was better Superman or Batman when six flags owned geauga lake in 2000. They were geared towards that, mr. six was a short-lived thing in Ohio. I doubt he ever brought teens to the park.

The way Mr Six could be reused is like most of the Icons of Advertizing that Joey mentioned above. Change! Maybe it's something as eash as changing the song and the dance or maybe it's as simple as updating the bus. But change the ad a little and it stays fresh with the same icon as the main focus. Or maybe we meet Mr. Six's family and they show us the way to the parks cause we all know...."IT'S PLAYTIME!"

Watch the tram car please....
