What music does your homepark play?

I am very interested in things like this. This can make or brake a park's atmosphere just like the perfect example of PGA and SFMW. PGA really consinstrates on bringing awesome music in there park and playing it loud and making an awesome atmosphere. It is why most enthuisits that say the park is better think why it is better than SFMW. SFMW doesn't really care much about it you can hear it in the front gate and back of park. It is that typical amusment park jazz which is real cool but different. They don't even play music I think were Kong and Medusa are, granted it would be tough to hear but they seem not to care about it. So what music does you park play?

How does one brake atmosphere?

If I hear another march on the midways of Cedar Point, I may get violent. I honestly would prefer that Cedar Point back off the music entirely. It's too loud in some places. For example, on the midway between Iron Dragon and Power Tower, they crank it. The noise of PT is tolerable and momentary, but when you get that annoying band music that comes out all midrange on blown speakers, it just hurts your ears.

All the English here know what I mean when I say, that bloody Alton Towers music. It torments me when I have been to the park that day and go to bed that night, but two months later, I find myself whistling it at my desk? Sort of a love hate thing!!

PKI usually plays all kinds of music, but lately they've resulted mainly to pop music. I do want to mention that bluegrass and country music atmosphere helps make Dollywood one of my favorite and one of the most enjoyable parks(and I don't even like the music). I had such a fun and relaxing time the last trip. Thunder Road is by far my favorite simulator. Tennessee Twister is actually a smooth(and excellent)Arrow multi-looper. And Blazing Fury is one of the most underrated coasters ever.

Oy, honestly I think they have been playing that marching music at CP since the 80's, the 1880's that is.

At CP at least, music was made for DJ booth, not for the midway. I like to the screams of people, the rush of rides, and the sweetest sound of all, the rollback dogs. The last thing I want to hear is "Yankee doodle dandy" on what sounds like my car stereo coming from the lot.

When they do play "real" music, it usually in the form of Smokey Robinson's "Tears of a Clown." I heard that so many times last year it made me cry,

At SFGAm, they play different Music through-out the whole park. In Orleans place, the play Jazz/Jazz Rock (which I enjoy when I'm at the park) The play Country/southern music in S.W. Territory, which adds a lot to the theme. On the midway in County Fair, they play "midway music" (I don't know what type of genre it is) And in Line for Batman, they play punk rock/rap. There is a lot of music at SFGAm. It helps add a happy environment to the atmousphere.

I noticed at SFA once, they were playing some Christian music. Not the Christian punk rock that I prefer, but it was nice to hear a park putting on some decent music for a change. It was playing near that little strip of food places (Pizzas of Eight, etc.). For those of you familiar with Christian Contemporary, it was Mark Schultz - "He's my Son".

Kennywood was kickin' out some great music yesterday. I counted at least four Beatles songs (and good, not-often-heard-in-public songs, too, like I Am The Walrus and Fool on the Hill), as well as a whole load of 80's/New Wave music. Who doesn't love hearing that classic Thompson Twins song "Hold Me Now" while wandering the midways? ;)

Oh, yeah... one of the gift shops had the radio on tuned to the Pens Post-Game wrap-up. The news of a Pittsburgh win was certainly music to our ears.

I would like to see some music correspond to themes of the rides. Like playing "Kryptonite" (Three Doors Down) for Superman rides, and playing "Break Stuff" (Limp Bizkit) for some rough rides. Also I would like to see some grunge in the parks (like Korn, Limp Bizkit, 311, Godsmack, Staind, etc.)

What is life with out coasters, geniuses, and/or SFA

I never really noticed this that much. However, near the enterance of Hersheypark, in the area they call Tudor Square, they sometimes play music that sounds like it is from the Rennasiance(sp?) or Olde England.

After you enter the park you go up a slope near where the old Skyride station used to be. Here they play this German / polka sounding music lots of the time. It can really get annoying. The only reason why I remember this specifically is that a) it is very annoying and b) when we were there for Hersheypark in the Dark at Halloween we noted that the erie/creepy music (complete with groans and screams) was a very big improvement over the polkas!

As for the rest of the park, I never really took notice.

One time at Great Adventure and a local waterpark they played MxPx once, and that was before they came out with their new(sellout) album, so my home parks never really play any good music. Parks need to play some more punk and ska.

[raises hand] Man I despise the Thompson Twins, despite the fact that I'm generally into 80s stuff (I even play in an 80s band).

I noticed Sea World in San Antonio was playing a lot of 80s music. It got me thinking that people my age in the late 20s, early 30s are their core demographic now, and are supposed to be bringing their children to the park (not coming to soley ride the rollercoasters like me).

My home park, Astroworld, plays a variety of music for the various themed areas - but it's always the same stuff visit after visit. That would drive me insane to work there and have to listen to "Flying Purple People Eater" every 10 minutes.

At PKI they play movie themes on International Street like "Jaws". In Action Zone near SOB they play a Jurassic Park type music. On Adventure Express they play the Indiana Jones theme. Rivertown plays mostly modern country music, but I liked it when they played bluegrass music at Whitewater Canyon, and the old KMLF. At Coney Mall they usually play Modern Rock like Creed or Britteny Spears (yuck!:)).

PGA used to play ragtime in Hometown Square, Dixie in Orleans Place, more ragtime in County Fair, nautical music in Yankee Harbor, etc...I enjoyed it. Now they play pop music. I hate it. It's like riding around in a car with the radio set to a station you don't like...and the radio's broken so you can't turn it off or change the station.

I think DCA did a cool job with it's music. I think it could be turned down just a tad though.

The sooner the better, in my opinion.

I don't know... When I'm at a park, I want to hear upbeat music. I mean, I ride coasters to reduce teen angst, or whatever...

My home park plays all of the looney tunes characters singing old classic Elvis songs, it`s actually magic music because it makes Elvis spin in his grave. Of course i`m talking about SFWoA. At least after a while they started to play music that`s right for the themed area, Rockville, 50`s music, The Wicked West, country,Batman Boulevard, soundtrack from the first Batman movie (lame), and rasta over in Hurricane Harbor. Maybe since SFWoA is "America`s Newest Fun Capital" they`ll actuallt play good music.

Hey Jeff...

I also agree that the Sousa marches at CP are extremely annoying...however, I can't decide if I'd rather hear those or Paula Abdul and other 80's pop stars that they also overplay.
