All music at parks should be taken away. There's no way to please everyone when you play music, so take it away. Nobody would complain. I hate hearing all sorts of music I don't like and only the occasional song I like. I'd rather have none at all. At Valleyfair, they have little speaker things that seem to have random volume adjustment devices... or maybe it's just me. They play... "calm" music.

Cedar Fair hates valleyfair... boohoo.

I love Knoebels and their 4 band organs (3 Wurlitzers). 2 at the Grand Carousel (only one playing at a time). One near the Phoenix, and the other at the smaller carousel. The good thing is that there are spots you don't hear the music so you can get away from it if you want. It's also not blaring like the one on RCT.

If I hear that Kryptonite song one more time, I think my head will explode."

Yes! I am not alone!
The marching bands at BGT are really great! Anyone else seen them?

The coolest effect has to be at Islands of Adventures, how abruptly the music changes and swells up as you walk from one island to the next. Really astonished me how precisely they have that working.
SFGAm doesn't play any 'mainstream' music. It plays nice amusement park music like in RCT :)

If I hear "Love Shack" or any more "Hootie and the Blowfish" at Cedar Point, i'm not gonna be too happy. They need to get some new music, I can't remember how long they have played that music up there.

Get ready to fly over Six Flags Oh..er I mean Six Flags Worlds of Adventure this summer with X-Flight!
Before the advent of amplification, music in parks was provided by one of two ways. A live brass band, either performing in a bandstand or marching around the park. The other way was with band organs. Not only was there one on the carousel (sometimes the operator had his choice of two,or sometimes even three organs he could choose to play) but many of the major attractions had an organ also. In Wurlitzer's last band organ catalog printed 1929, it recommended the Style 165 "For largest type stationary Carouselles,Roller Coasters and other Park installations. Used with great success in Park Dance Pavillions."
Besides the Wurlitzer 153 on the Dentzel carousel, Kennywood had an organ at the Old Mill at one time plus one or two others in the park. They also owned one of the few Artizan Air Calios built.
Its funny, I don't think I can remember the last time I've ever heard music at Valleyfair! except for the shows at their designated spots. Unless I'm starting to lose it, I don't even think VF has a carousel.

You build it, I'll ride it...eventually
I work at Adventuredome in Vegas and our music caries depending on the type of ride. For the Carousel and Ferris Wheel there's a loop of Carnival type music. For the kiddie rides they play a lot of 80's and 90's pop. For the larger rides they play a lot of dance music (some is really good as I love trance) and some current hits such as Three Doors Down, Lil Bow Bow, Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson, and Lenny Kravitz. The only time the entire park plays the same music is during Christmas when it's all changed to Contemporary Christian and Traditional Christmas Music which is cool cause I'm Christian and i love that stuff!
