Intamin Rocket Coaster Clones

I feel that there are too many rocket coaster clones emerging around the country. I don't mind if there a little different, but I think one would of been enough

The average visitor to a park don't know it's a clone so your gonna have to deal with it.

Personally I don't see a lot of Clones, They are each unique in their own way. At least of the Rockets.

Chuck, who says if you ask him about SLC's or boomerangs, You might have a point

So one in the whole entire world would be enough?

Somehow, that makes little to no sense at all.

Why not one Vekoma Boomerang in the world? Maybe just one hyper coaster in the whole wide world.

Yeeeaaahh... makes sense.

By having more than one rocket coaster [in the world] means that it was popular & successful enough in that particular park that it caught the interest of other parks wanting to capture on that popularity = more guests = more revenue = $$ in their pockets.

Clones? The only two that are even remotely similar are Dragster and Kingda Ka, and even those are about 50% different (seeing as how Ka has two elements instead of one ;)).

Oh, and John Q. Guest doesn't give two hamster dumps if a ride is a clone.

Actually it's about 33% the same. the second hill and the otsr. ;) Now that makes it even less of a clone.

Watch the tram car please....

And the station and theme are totally different too. You're down to about 20%. Then there's tax and tip so you end up around 11% *** Edited 9/23/2005 4:02:53 PM UTC by ApolloAndy***

There are 2 clones sort of .

Kk is sort of a clone of ttd.

But stealth is definately a clone of kk.

Now i have ridden kk and if ttd is the same expereience i would like everybody in the US to be able to experience it.

If you're talking about a Chance Toboggan it would be... and I'd prefer if it were someplace like outer Mongolia, high on a plain in the Gobi Desert.

Yep, I can imagine the conversation at Intamin HQ right now... "well, we built that rocket thing now, so what can we build next?"

But if you're going to complain about clones, coasters have nothing on flat rides. What's with all those tilt-a-whirls, scramblers, and music expresses? Or is that expressi?

I totally agree that the flats have been cloned way more than the coasters. But I think the point is that everything gets cloned to some degree. wether it be Antique Cars or Water Flume rides or Coasters. All parks want a little bit of everything. I say clone 'em all. The more the better. :)

Except the Giant Wheel of course. *** Edited 9/24/2005 1:59:53 AM UTC by TopThrill10***

Do you think "This coaster is a clone," when rocketing at over 100 mph? I think not. Acctually KK is 36 feet taller and 8 mph faster. I hate the people who have only ridden Dragster and say that these stats can't be notice while ridding. While, it may be true, it doesn't mean KK isn't the record holder. It is, no matter how close the two are in each other. If it was 421 feet tall and 121 mph, it would have the record. A record is a record. It's like saying Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire have the home run record, becasue bonds has only 3 more homers than Mcguire for the single season record.

Oh yeah, I like KK theming better.

In my hometown, the GP doesn't even know what a rocket coaster is. They don't even know rocket coasters exist!

Yes, that was another way to complain about how my homepark is not a superpark and blah blah.

May I add that most people that go to Cedar Point have no clue what TTD is? Let alone that Intamin now calls their hydraulic launched lineup "Acelerator" coasters.

Cedar "Counter" Point

As a coaster loving creative person, I'm tied of hearing about the amusement park BUSINESS! I'm sick of hearing about how dumb the GP is. How coaster A is different from coaster B because one is orange and the other is blue. Cooperate park are just that cooperate. Sameness and dullness. I look at pictures of some parks and there are Six Flags parks that look almost identitacle to a Cedar fair park. Is it really that exciting in the year 2005 to here that a park in Kansas is building a B&M invert? What are the options? Will park H put in a proslide in their water park or if H decides to build a new coaster what will it be? A Boomerang or a Spinning Mouse? Painted in loud flashy colors? Cooperate parks are generic. I don't care about marketing or focus groups. I just go to park to have a good time. Enthuisast don't like clones period. Different is good. Why people want CP to build a flyer escapes me. All you have to do is imagine flyer train on Iron Dragon and there you go. I think it would be cool to change things up a little like having a mega looping B&M 200 plus Diving coaster. Why not? There's a floorless and a flyer an hour away. I like small parks when comes to adding something NEW. Without the hugh budgets it forces smaller parks to come up with rides that are unique. Examples that come to mind are The Voyage, Powderkeg, and Phantom's Revenge.

Actually, stallion, a record is a marketing tool that no one really cares about bout insignifigant fanboys.

Xcel is still the best Rocket I've ridden.

Me too. ;-) I would be as happy as pig in crap. :-D I would save The Gauntlet though...not a bad SLC.

Actually, besides the hill at the end, Kingda "felt" a LOT different that Dragster. They are two totally different rides IMHO. Sure, they look similar, have a launch, top hat, and twist, but I found them both to be two totally different experiences.

At this point I see Intamin building more rockets similar to Xcel and Storm Runner, with various elements....some old and new. I can't really see them installing another record breaker based on height and/or speed.

That's just my opinion. :-)
