I just got power on in the house 3 days ago...hope I don't lose it again.
The weather is just not cooperating with me, though. FOr the honeymoon, we were supposed to leave from N.O. saturday. Well...that's not happening, so they rescheduled us out of Houston! Well, now that'snot going to happen either! So, we're going to drive now thanks to Rita!
And Gas does effect coasters, the hole economy and everything...
Oh man! You mean the price of holes is going to go up!?
The hole economy was already shaky at best.
Crap!
Also, We produce our 40% of our own oil and those cost to produce it raised basically the rate of inflation and not by 50 bucks a barrel.
Now, as for refining capasity. Our govt is not inforcing anti trust laws whatsoever making giant companys like Exxon/Mobile and those companies when they merge just shut down one or two refineries and go on knowing they can charge more because they can't produce as much.
It's time people start calling congress and taking action.
Sure there are hickups like storms and stuff but they have taken messures to make it to where they can keep the price high by claiming not enough refining ability.
Rita is down to a category 4, which still sucks, but that's the closest we can get to good news. The low-lying areas in the warning areas are primarily on the coast itself there, right? I just can't imagine that kind of inland flooding again.

Our prices have come down too, from a high of $3.39 Labor Day w/e to about $2.69-$2.79 for regular. But still it's 20-30 cents higher than it was the day before Katrina hit. So I'm not about to celebrate that gas is "ONLY" $2.69 a gallon-- although I did catch myself a few times. Amazing how big business "trains" us.
