Very simple answer to Koaster King's whole point. SOMEONE HAS TO BUILD THEM FIRST!. The only thing you can say about CP is that they are willing to raise the bar for everyone else, and are also willing to let others improve on their design. CP is very respectable because of this, in my opinion. I'm glad CP is willing to take the risks involved with building "first-of-a-kinds". but, then again, if they didn't, someone else would. SFMM is already showing us they're willing to with X. In a few years, X will probably not be the best of its kind, but it'll always be remembered the most fondly. And, it will still be a crowd favorite.
I think thats the point of building new and unique rides, to entrance people for many years. Magnum (the #1 steel coaster according to FANS) has been a crowd favorite for 12 years now, i can't remember a time (besides ERT with ACE) that i got on Magnum with less than a 1/2 hour wait. I don't think any roller coaster ever has been a mistake, there are just coasters that are not as enjoyable as others. Windjammer sounded really cool when it was announced, but it was just poorly engineered.
Enough from me, I think I need to relax myself before i go crazy here, waiting three more weeks so I can get my butt to SFGAm. Sitting in a dorm room in West Lafayette, IN is really hard with so many new coasters opening all around me! ARG!
