10 couples getting married on BORG at Carowinds

On July 14th, at 10am, 10 couples will exchange vows in full wedding attire on the BORG ASSIMILATOR Flying coaster at Paramount's Carowinds. Pastor Mark Harris, a member of American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE), will preside over the coaster wedding and a special wedding guest of the BORG kind will also be on hand.

The winners are sponsored by WIBT, the New 96.1 The Beat "Get Married on a Roller Coaster" contest.

I'm never one to advocate such posts as what I'm about to do here, but this news has left me no choice. So without further ado, I give you my post.

Since this is a solemn occasion, I won't make a poor-taste joke like:

"You will be assimilated".

These folks have just DEFINED 'emgee'. Anyone on this site who has previously claimed to be an emgee can no longer justify that status. Sorry.

I'm not sure which is geekier, getting married on a rollercoaster or having a Borg in attendance

LoL, thats always been my dream, to get married on a roller coaster. I've always wanted to get married on Raging Bull. I wonder how much you have to pay to get it done without the contest. More then a normal wedding? Hmmm.... :P

Now this is bad. Star Trek Coaster Geeks having a Star Trek themed wedding on a Roller Coaster, with BORG in attendance.

And here I thought I was scarred after seeing an actual Star Trek wedding at Star Trek: The Exp. I'm a Trekkie and a coaster geek, but this just scares even me...

Getting married in general scares me Tekno. :)

60% divorce rate in this country is enough for me to avoid it unless it's for certain.

But how can you know for 100% sure anything is certain? Who marries when they don't think its for certain?

I got married in teh traditional way, but I proposed to my wife on the Big Wheel at Greatadventure. I got down on one knee, and all Julie could say was "STOP ROCKING THE CAR!"

I was actually wondering, how much do you think it would cost to get married on Millenium Force? I was thinking .. a lot, but a ballpark estimate from someone who's been around coasters for longer than me would be nice.

And there's no way we're doing a coaster wedding or a coaster honeymoon. There're better rides on a honeymoon that you don't have to wait in line for.

Right on, Andy, congrats! I agree, we wanted nothing to do with coasters for our wedding and honeymoon. After the mega-stress of months of wedding planning and house-hunting, lying on a beach in the Carribbean was much more desirable. :)

So, Vater, what you're saying is first you'll walk down the aisle, then you'll walk down the isle...see, Moosh wasn't that far off. ;) ;)
