850 of Humility of Mary Health Partners (Youngstown Region Hospital group) went last Sunday to KW, and all had a BLAST! I'm taking my 2 Godchildren back to KW on August 1st.

No #1 family coaster/ride we went on was Exterminator!

I wish GLP would do the special touches that KW does, like free re-usable souvenir cups with their unique slushies.

We were laughing at the GLP/WWK sign down the road, cause after 1 visit to KW, we don't care about going back to GLP ever again ;)

Kennywood is a great place for both classic and contemporary amusement rides, as well as some of the best park food available in the region.

I've been to Kennywood twice and I find the park to be "OK" but nothing more. I have to say that the first time I went I was expecting much more going by what some enthusiasts say.

I didn't understand the big deal about Jack Rabbit. A fairly boring ride with that one big pop of airtime, which doesn't make up for the boredom the rest of the ride creates.

Also, the Potato Patch fries are good, but no better than many other fresh cut fries found at parks, or even in malls at places like "Great Steak and Potato Company". I guess people like all the toppings, but I don't. Just a nice French fry with salt is great, and there is nothing about Potato Patch which makes it superior.

The park is nice however, and I can see how someone who likes classic rides can really get into Kennywood. But I do think they need more in the future to keep the park fresh, becoming stale is the kiss of death in the amusement industry.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

How old is that picture, Greg? I remember seeing the blue train being sold on e-bay last year and heard that the red train was also sold recently.

kpjb, can you help? Do you know the status of the Dipper trains?

The foreground of that picture shows the then-brand spanking new, not yet installed Phantom's Revenge shells, so 2001.

Ok, so change my post to "the trains WERE as of 2001" ;)

How could KENNYWOOD of all places keep an historic kiddie woodie like that in storage? At the VERY least, sell it to Knoebels...there it wood be *operating*.

Probably fit perfectly in the spot of the *relocated* Whirlwind... ;)

Anyone know the approx size of this "kiddie" woodie? If its 50 feet tall id hardly call it kiddie. Nevertheless, i'm intrigued by it either way. Any coaster is fun!

Here's the stats on the "Dipper" http://www.rcdb.com/id1315.htm The only componets saved were the trains lift machinery and station brakes. As to how much of this is actually left, ask kpjb.

I don't think there is anything left of the Dipper at Kennywood anymore...

I know two years ago the red & green dipper trains/cars were in the bone yard. I think since then the trains have been sold.
