Cant seem to find a decent hotel in Cedar Point

Hi all -

I am traveling to Cedar Point the weekend of June 3rd. I have read review after review about all the hotels in the area, and most of them seem to suck...lol. I cant stand hotels that have vacuumed the crumbs up against the wall :-) So basically I'm looking for a nice clean hotel in the area. I am willing to travel atleast 20 mins to the park. Any suggestions?

**one last question...is June 3rd a good weekend to go? My co-worker went about 2 weeks ago and she said they were able to ride each coster atleast 3 times because the lines were extremely short. Think I could have such luck? Thanks for your help!!!!

June 3rd is coastermania, so its bound to be buisy. A good hotel to stay at is hotel breakers right inside the park.

Well first of all stay at one of CP's hotels and take advantage of the get in early pass that you get for staying there. Second, June 3rd is coaster mania, it's gonna be busy.

When I don't stay on the point I stay at the Sleep Inn on U.S. 250 about 5 miles away to the south. Be sure to stop by Chett and Matt's pizza on Strub Rd. as it is most excellent.

We always stay at the Knights Inn on Cleveland Road (used to be Bayshore Resort and most recently Villager). They have clean rooms, nice staff, and a great continental breakfast. Their room rates are pretty decent, too.

I've heard good things about the no-longer-Villager. I'm meaning to try the newly-rebranded La Quinta (they allow pets.)

For my money, Breakers Express usually provides the best combination of value and cleanliness if you are leaning to do things inexpesnively---it is a newer property, and generally well maintained. Breakers (but only the Tower or East) or Lighthouse Point are my lodging of choice if money is no object.

There are an awful lot of old, fleabag motels in and around Sandusky. They are mostly clean, but awfully threadbare.

I agree with Brian both on the recommendation of Breakers Express, and on the number of rather tired motels.

I have to admit I was shocked when I read the thread title because of the plethora of hotels/motels, but then I remembered that there really weren't any upscale motels/hotels on the way to the park. I stayed at a Rodeway Inn that had a pool and it wasn't too bad, but it was about $70 a night back in 2000.

I'd recommend either Breakers Express or one of the two Choice Hotels (Sleep or Comfort) at the intersection of Route 2 and 250 (Milan Rd). Stay away from anything on Cleveland Rd and in general, the ones on 250 closest to Route 6 are shadier than the ones further away.

I always stay at Breakers Express you can't go wrong there. You also can get in the park earlier.

If you can't find a decent hotel near Cedar Point then you must not be looking hard enough. There is such a huge concentration of hotels in that area that surely at least a couple of them would meet your standards. This isn't rural Idaho for crying out loud.

My choice is generally Breaker's Express or the Red Roof Inn on 250 near the turnpike. It's a bit of a hike to the park, but it's relatively new, very clean, and they have a nice continental breakfast included. Unlike most Red Roof Inns, this one does not have the "outside entrances" to the rooms.

There is a relatively new Comfort Inn just south of Route 2 that is also very nice.

In the lodging industry we call that "exterior corridor" :)

Two places that are nice but extremely expensive are Great Wolf Lodge and Castaway Bay. They have indoor waterparks. There is a Holiday Inn near RT2 and US250. There are MANY MANY hotels. You can even go to Port Clinton area and find Fairfield Inn if you like Marriott.

A few weeks ago I stayed at Motel 6 in Milan, right off of the Turnpike. It was clean and affordable, and had a very friendly staff.

stay at Breakers Express. And yeah that will be one of the busiest weekends of the year there.

Decent hotel... try finding a decent theme park there. ;)
