Cant seem to find a decent hotel in Cedar Point

It's not the busiest weekend of the season. Coastermania may bring in a couple thousand, but the park will eat that. I doubt you'll even notice. You'll have a great time.

To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them".

Mysoul - Do not stay in any of the hotels in Sandusky proper or least within the 3 mile radius of the park. The hotels are looking sad, aren't clean, and the staff does not seem to care. Suck it up and stay at Breakers Express. If you go to the CP website and download the 2005 park brochure I believe there is a $10 off on a room at BE. That said, I believe the room rates start at $59 or $69 a night, even for a weekend.

As for the Coastermania people, I am one of them, it does not add to the population of the park that much. I went to CP the first Friday of June last year and the park wasn't busy.

The Gull Motel in Huron is nice.

Doubtful. The former Greentree Inn which is now a Comfort Inn (I think) was changing $99.95 two weekends ago. I'm sure BE was in the same neighborhood. Hotels are cheap in May, expecially on weekdays, but once Memorial Day hits, you can expect to pay at least $89 for anything in Sandusky on a weeknight and more on a weekend. Some of those roach motels on Rt. 6 might be an exception, but expect to pay around $100 for anything decent (and in some cases, not decent).

In a previous post, I recommended BE or one of the Choice properties at the intersection of 250 and 2. Here's two to avoid: Howard Johnson's by the causeway (Cleveland Rd) and Comfort Inn on Cleveland Rd. I've had bad experiences at both of them.

No, not doubtful. I booked BE for June 1-4th for that rate.

I would never recommend Breaker's Express. The prices were ridiculous for a small, dirty, and cheap room that we could have found for cheaper, but we didn't because of these "perks". Oh please. It's not even worth it. Just go elsewhere than a CP resort ;)

Well, if Breakers Express can be had for 59 or 69 bucks, then that is the way to go. I'm surprised your rate wasn't that for Wednesday and Thursday and then much more on Friday and Saturday. That's what I've always observed.

I found the Breakers Express rooms to be on par with a decent chain hotel like Comfort or Sleep. They weren't anything special, but they are normal size and mine was clean. If you're paying the same price as most of the other hotels in Sandusky, why not have the extra perks? Especially if you're only making one trip - getting on MF or Dragster quickly in the morning can help you avoid two hours of standing in line later.

I was at Cedar Point last week, stayed at the Econo Lodge on Cleveland Road.

Rooms were pretty clean, it was pretty quiet, and very cheap. The prices go up before you get there, but it's still a decent place for a night's sleep, really close to CP [right next to the causeway], and not far from a bunch of eating places.

We (MiG) are staying at Mircotel Inn in Huron the first week of this month for $36.00/night. We like the place because it's still pretty new, free breakfast, and it is easy to go the "backway" to CP and miss the long line of traffic trying to get into CP via the causeway.

Yeah, I've stayed there before. The place is a dive. Probably the worst hotel I've stayed at in the area. The beds were so uncomfortable.

I remember thinking it was pretty lucky to find a hotel right across from the causeway for so cheap, then I found out why it was cheap.

Just from experience:

Motel 6: Very clean but the prices have gone up.

Travelodge: Meh. It will do. Stayed there the last time and eventually got the heater to work. Otherwise it's VERY cheap and clean.

Howard Johnson's (right across from the causeway entrace) Again, very cheap and kind of ugly, but the rooms were clean. I am not fussy. lol.

Days Inn: Very good. I actually found a good deal for my next visit there in a couple of days.

Rodeway Inn (North). Don't bother. Disgusting.

Red Roof Inn (near the Howard Johnson's): OK.

Budget Host (I think that's what it was called.....it's near the Travelodge) I wouldn't bother, unless they have upgraded.

Breakers Express: Probably your best bet. Very reasonable and nice for the price.

There are a TON of other motels in the area so I am sure you will not have any problems. How often do you spend time in the motel room anyway? :-)
