"Never Ride Again" Coasters

I don't have any coasters that I'll say "never again", but I DO have coasters I say "not if I have to wait in a significant line for it".

Off the top of my head:
Steel Phantom (Kennywood)
Serial Thriller (SFO)
Mind Eraser (SFO)
Raging Wolf Bobs (SFO)
Great American Scream Machine (SFGAdv)
Rolling Thunder (SFGAdv)
Mean Streak (CP)
Iron Dragon (CP)

Note that not all of these are quite in the same class -- I have no real complaints about Iron Dragon, for example, but there's better things to do at the park. Steel Phantom and GASM, on the other hand, can be downright painful at times...

I personally thought that Joker's Jinx was not that bad. I thought the only serious head-banging was towards the bottom of the ride. I will never turn down a coaster if it is a walk-on or a 5 minute wait.

My earring caused considerable pain when on OLFOF. Took it off and my head still got banged around enough for me to say 'Enough'

First as a reply to B&MAaron, when you say you wont ride Viper at SFGA I am assuming you mean the Arrow megalooper at Great Adventure (NJ) and not the cyclone clone at Great America (IL). To avoid the confusion I always abbreviate the NJ park SFGAdv and the IL park SFGAm.

Anyway, back to the question at hand, there are only two coasters I wont ride again Rolling Thunder at SFGAm (well they removed this but it was so bad I still have memories) and the Carolina Goldrusher (Carowinds). Not that either of these were bad rides in and of themselves. Just that I being 6' 1" (two thirds of that legs) I had ZERO leg room. The cars were so uncomfortable that I just could enjoy the ride. As for OL:FOF (PKD) it gave me a headache, but as soon as it wore of, I jumped right back in line. The launch was worth popping a couple of advil =]

If the ride is a walk on I would go on OLFOF, Psyclone at SFMM, and Flashback at SFMM. Any lines longer than that and you can forget about it. To reitterate a point made earlier, I would be happy if they burned Psyclone to the ground.

I always found it amusing that in the promo pictures for OLFOF they showed two front-seat riders restrained by small, thin green things without those basketball-sized pads on both sides of your head. maybe you could reduce pain on it by taking a sweater and wrapping it around your head so that your head is packed in completely? never tried it, though..
I've also experienced some pains on Mantis/Chang, although I appear to be the only one. King Cobra I tolerate, and actually enjoy.

I'll ride any coaster. At least once each visit to the park. At PKD I'll hit OL at leats once or twice not in a row though. Thank god for no rerides on that. When I go to a park I try to ride all the coasters at least once in a day just to ride. If they have a long ride I'll skip them just to ride my favorite coasters an extra time. At PKI I still need to ride King Cobra and Outer Limits. The line was 3 hour wait for OL and long for KC. OL is a clone of PKD and KC is near a clone of Shockwave so I figure I'd hit them next time we go to PKI.

There are really no "adult" coasters that I will never ride again, but some of the kiddie coasters I could pass up. There are some like Woodstock's Express or is that a "junior" or "family" coaster?

The Grizzly at PGAm is the absolute worst woodie I've ever ridden. It's a jarring bone rattler with no redeeming thrill value to make the trip to the chiropractor or consequent memory loss worthwhile.

Why would anybody wait 3 hrs. to ride the King Cobra, all it ios is a recycled TOGO. Just the same as evry other TOGO satndup. Same think with all of the Vekoma SLCs. They are still fun but I would only wait that long for an original ride.

Want a headache? Ride Outer Limits: Flight of Fear at any Paramount park. Want a back ache? Ride the Mean Streak at CP. Want to slam your knees? Ride Raging Wolf Bobs at SFO. Other than some minor aches and pains, these rides are not half bad.

I did forget to mention in my other post that I won't ride Twisted Sisters (too rough), The Serpent at Americana (boring coaster), and Scorpion at BGT (didn't ride it, I was too tall). I had just remembered those three.

As for Viper goes at SFGAdv....yes that ride is x-tremely rough but i always go back for more. Well when i got there this year, it was closed. I asked the worker who was standing in front of Viper, and he said that the ride is closed for the year so they can reprofile the track, clear some extra space, add more inversions, and finally get new, custom restraints. Hopefully these new restraints eliminate headbanging.

New restraints on Viper (SFGAdv) would be a huge improvement. I never really thought the ride was *that* rough, just that the restraints were really a poor design and the ride was so short. I think the themeing around the ride is pretty neat though

2HOSTYL - Viper at SFGAdv is a weird Togo ride, the Arrow megalooper is the Great American Scream Machine. SFMM's Viper is the Arrow Megalooper. I love how Six Flags uses the same names for different types of coasters in different parks. *** This post was edited by millrace on 6/2/2000. ***

That's right, I always end up getting them confused. I forget the NJ has GASM (or should I say GASM-2) cause I always think of the woodie at SFoG also named GASM. I'm just glad that all the B:TR are the same ride. Not one being a heartline, one being a CY-clone, and one being a megalooper (like the Vipers at NJ, IL, and CA respectively) Thank you for poining out my error =]

I went to SFGADv two weeks ago. the VIPER Heartline restraints were fine (maybe they've been changed, I dunno, twas my first time there) but the GASM gave me a headache! Ouch! As for confusing names, the VIPER at SFoG is a Boomerang type launched shuttle! Between Superheroes, Comets, Snakes and the like, I thank Go for lists like the one on this ebsite to help me keep all the names clear!

last time I was on Viper (SFGAdv)- several years ago, the restraints were very painful, Hard to explain but they were over the shoulder style but instead of rotating over your head, they were pulled straight down. It was very easy to pull them too far down and end up sitting hunched in the seat resulting in a lot of stress on the shoulders.

What do you mean by a recycled TOGO?

I can't remember it's name, but it was at this "mom and pop" park in Pennsylvania, somewhere south of Harrisburg. It was a really old woodie, and was literally falling apart as we rode it.
