Any British members?

I would like to know how many Brits there are that regularly visit Coasterbuzz like I do, and what their favourite coaster is in the UK. Mine is The Ultimate at Lightwater Valley.
5 minutes of sheer fun.

There are about 20 .uk e-mail addresses among the members, but when you consider anyone in the world could have a Yahoo or Hotmail account, I'm sure there are more!

What's your home park? How is the Big One, Nemesis, Oblivion and dare I say have you seen the construction of SW5?

I'm part of the British Commonwealth, the Queen is on most of our coins. I'm Australian. :)

I'm from the UK, and live in the Midlands. My closest parks are Alton Towers / Drayton Manor Park. Oblivion is my fave ride in the UK as it's unique.

CoasterGod - Nemesis and Oblivion are awesome rides. I haven't been to Alton Towers this year, so I've only seen pics of SW5, but you can bet I'll be there for opening day. The first drop on the Big One is brilliant, but the rest of the ride is poor, but BPB is an excellent park.

I'm off to the US at the end of May, for my 3rd US coaster trip - 15 parks in 16 days, can't wait.

Nemesis is Outstanding for looks and themeing as you expect from Alton! It's also fast and intense which given that it doesn't really have a drop is superb. The Big One is good, Grant seems to sum it up, but all Intamin hypers look better (Expedition G Force is VERTICAL), Oblivion is superb, but it's way too short!!! Ive seen loads of construction shots of SW5 and i'm at Alton almost every month taking shots so i'll post them up, if any site wants them as I don't run one. my home park could be one of many as I live almost bang in the centre of Southport, Pleasureland, BPB, Alton and Drayton.

Hey Grant, I and one or two ECC members are at Alton on Saturday if you wanna join us? I'm also at Drayton next Tuesday!

I think it's superb that we have Foreign members on the boards! While you all are here, I have a
few questions. I am planning a European tour next summer and I'd love some input.

I know all about Blackpool, CWOA, and Alton Towers, but I *know* there have got to be
more great parks out there!

Eurodisney?
Flamingoland?
What else out there??

Although i did hit 35 coasters in 5 countries last year. lol

Rob Coasting: If you wanna hit some good parks in europe you HAVE to hit Holiday Park and Heide park also aim for Alton Towers and Europa park in Germany.

Please remember that France has some excellent coasters in Astrix's and Now the Disney parks, plus now the six flags parks of belgium and holland are getting alot better with their new coasters, plus as already stated Germany for Holiday Park and Europa, remember to have a look at etfling park. Further south in Spain Universal's Port Adventura for the big B&M dragon Khan and Stapedia(woodie), down to alicante for Terria Mitca and their massive woodie Collosus, then east to Madrid for the New WB Movie Land with two B&M's a S&S tower and an Intamin Woodie.A shop hop in Madrid to Parc De Attractiones for the Tornado the Intamin Inverter

In Britain Alton Towers (a must) Thorpe Park for the new world record looping coaster, go west to Wales for Megaphopia at Oakwood, then up North for Blackpool for their collection and then on to is it southport for millienuim coaster and their new record breaker for an inverter. See Europe has alot more than you US guy's think.

Flamingoland is excellent!! Drayton Manor in Tamworth is good as it is home to the world's only Intamin standing drop ride!! Parc Asterix and Disney Paris are both well worth a visit especially Parc Asterix, it is home to a CCI (I think) classic coaster Tonnere De Zeus and they are contructing for the opening a new world record breaking Bobsled coaster and whats more, its a browny purple colour!! Oakwood in South Wales is home to Megafobia, which I guarantee will be in your top 5 coasters!!!! It's CCI's best I think. If you plan Germany, there is Heide Park, Collosus, say no more! Europa next year is home to Macks first hyper coaster and many more great rides as this is the best park ive been too. Theming is impecable and a nice collection of rides, but no wood. Holidaypark in Germany is home to Expedition G Force next year, an Intamin hyper rumoured to go Vertical! There is Six Flags Holland and Belgium, both nice parks but thats all. Phantasia Land in Germany and Efteling in Holland are both beautifull Parks and well worth a visit! Then there is Bobbejaanland in Belgium as well as Bellewarde, both parks are mediocre but worth a visit. If you are feeling really ambitious don't miss Miribilandia in Italy, Katun is Montu callibur but with an extra bite!! It is a big park with plenty to keep you going all day including a very good woodie called Sierra Tonante, built by Bill Cobb. If you go to Miribilandia then you should visit Garda Land in Italy and unsuprisingly it's by Lake Garda. Its home to an SLC with an extra helix, and a vekoma Loopscrew. One in England I forgot, in fact two, is firstly Thorpe Park which next year will have an Intamin 10 looper remenisant of Monte Mayake but with two extra in line twists. And then there is Fantasy Island which has a smooth custom vekoma sitdown and next year will be home to the worlds first hyper inverted called Oddessey.

Well thats about it for Europe, there are more but you would only repeat rides if I mentioned them.

Millenium Coaster and the hyper inverter are at Fantasy Island in lincolnshire, but you're right, Southport is a nice park! i forgot the Spanish parks as well, Port Aventura, a must do. Terra Mittica, if you have time, and is Warner Bro Movie world Madrid opening next year? If so don't miss it, B&M floorless and inverted, plus many more!! I hope to head to Madrid next year.

Any British here feel like coming to Alton on Saturday as I and a few ECC members will be there, just tell me and we will meet you.

If you like fun houses, go to Southport!! Its such a laugh!!!! Also Dark rides a plenty in Europe, especially Garda Land in Italy, it has about four great one's. Also we in England are home to the world's second longest roller coaster and it's only second to SD 2000. The park is Lightwater Valley and is home to a few Shwarzkopf classics!! Graet Yarmouth has one of the biggest manual braked classic coasters and the structure is is boarded and painted, it's quite a sight! Flamingoland is home to a Schwarzkopf drier looping called Magnum Force, if you don't know what that is (no insult if you do, lol) just think West Edmonton mall Mindbender, it's almost exact except it's a mirror image without the last helix, good news is, no OTSR's!! Also the bullet, a one of a kind Schwarzkopf masterpiece. Its a shuttle loop in a knot as it used to travel under the name Wiener Looping, a must ride!! Half of the parks here though have zoo's and knowing our bloody goverment, foot and mouth will still be around!!!!! *** This post was edited by Stephen Reeves on 4/4/2001. ***

Good to see I am not alone as I am british, I am 22years old and live in Southampton, so even though I live far from AT, I go twice a year, Nemesis and Oblivion are just the best unique B&M coasters you will ever find, and are both excellent rides. Also SW5 has begun construction, I went on 1st April, and you can clearly see it from the monorail, It looks like it will be awesome.

Robcoasting - I dont know if you mean this summer, because personally I would wait until 2002 to do your tour because then you can sample the delights of SW5(B&M Flying Coaster at AT) Atlantis(10 Looper Coaster at Thorpe) and Odyssey(Largest and Tallest Suspended Coaster at Fantasy Island) Also in 2002 will be WBMW in Spain with the additing of a Woodie,B&M Inverted and B&M Floorless.
As for a few other good parks, I suggest

BlackPool Pleasure Beach - This park is one of the best in Europe if you want to ride a lot of coasters(about 12 in all) From Classic Woodies to a very rare SteepleChase Coaster(still operating today) to a 210ft Hyper, you are sure to find one coaster you wil absolutly love.
DisneyLand Paris - there may be 3 main coasters, but all are superb in my opinion especially Space Mountain, I also just love visiting Disney Parks for the great atmossphere and excellent staff, when I went in may, all staff were running all rides to extreme full capacity
Port Aventura - I havent been there, but I know that its an excellent park, and with Dragon Karn also there(with 8 inversions by the way) Its ccertinaly worth a visit.
Hyde Park - Havent been there, but have heard its a good park to visit especially with the addition of Colossus(Hyper Woodie) this year

Very true PaulD, Space Mountain at DLP is outstanding, I just hate it queing by the break run and the train comes past, why so LOUD!!! It always scares the #@*£ out of me!!!

Are we british forgeting something!? Oktoberfest!!! Or any German Fair for that matter! Anyone who has been to a German fair will never look at county fairs again!!! If you go in October RobCoasting, go to the Beer Festival Oktoberfest in Munich, and be prepared to be amazed beyond all belief!!!

I live in the notrh of England (near Sheffield) and there aren't many parks near me. I visit Alton Towers about 4 times a year - no other park comes close. So, although I don't live anywhere near it, I regard Alton as my home park.

I'm off to try Submission out at Easter. Don't know what date yet. Any other people who have already rode it, (Stephen Revves???) can tell me what it's like. I've heard mixed comments so far. I know it's not a coaster but.... Roll on SW5!!!
