World's Most Intense Helix

Doesn't really count, but Magnum's pretzel (it's a warped helix) is insane when the trims are off. Man, I miss those trimless CoasterMania night rides.

I bet the Rye Airplane's first diving helix was quite something as well.

Batman: The Ride for sure. That helix after the second loop is just crazy.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

I didn't see the Nitro helix mentioned. That one is good too.

Please wait for the ride to come to a full and complete stop. Push down, then pull up on your lap bar. Thank and enjoy the rest of your day at CoasterBuzz.

I love the Twister's Helix! especially because when your watching people come off the loading/unloading ramp and standing by the track having a puzzled look on their face and thinking in their heads "Did I just do that?" also i like it beacuse your so close to the track on the second time around! *** Edited 3/20/2005 11:35:18 PM UTC by Codis7Magodis***

OK here's a small but intense helix that might also be added to the list:
The last element on the Eurostar travelling invert.

After crash-test-dummying through all the different inversions, it seems the ride is leveling out toward the end, but then the train suddenly drops into this really intense 330 deg almost 90 deg. banked leg-pulling helix before the track goes up into the final brake run. Actually the most forceful element of the entire ride.

not sure of you would count it as a helix, but the "bowl part on the Thunderbult at kennywood has got my vote

From the coasters I have been fortunate enough to experience I'd have to say Shivering Timbers for wood and Goliath at SFMM for steel. I always have to hold on during the ST helix, and on Goliath my brain was too busy greying out and couldn't tell my body to hold on. ;) *** Edited 3/21/2005 7:01:16 PM UTC by macho nachos***

I did not know that Kumba had a helix. I thought it was just a banked turn

Bert123, I'd coun't it. And you're right, it's so intense that you need a partner just to get through it (no single riders allowed due to the lack of seat dividers). I 'd also nominate Twister at Knoebles. And trim brake or not, I still love the finale on Wild One.

My vote is for the Legend's helix as well as Mindbender's wicked "third loop" helix.

Add another vote for Legend and Raptor.

Although, Touchdown mentioned The Beast. I wouldn't say the entire turn is intense, but the first JOLT heading from Cincinnati to Parkersburg is bone rattling.

I'm going to offer a sentimental favorite in the Flat Ride section: Bayern Kurve. I have walked crooked lines to the Taters after a spin at Kennywood. Fun Spot in Angola, IN has one, but I haven't seen any other Bayern Kurves. Does anyone know where these are hidden?

Let's see. I will vote for the Beast. The tunnel helix ending beats Sonny. There is no better coaster fainale than this. Ghostrider is my favorite woody but the ending helix does not come close to the Beast intensity. I actually think Wild One is more intense.

I have been on Goliath and Kumba. They are too smooth to be INTENSE. In fact, I think Superman ROS has more intense helix.

For inverted, the most recent one, Silver Bullet, has a one intense Helix. I almost blanked out for the first time ever. I think SB has more intense helix than Raptor, Montu, Batman the Ride, or Talon. Then again, these are just my takes.

In my opinion, Titan's first helix is more intense than Goliath's, coming off that airtime hill with that speed and all.

My vote goes for Boss at SFSTL and Goliath.... awesome

honorable mentions: 2004 American Eagle Red towards the middle of the season the helix was awesome!

If you consider the drop and run around the station on Cyclops a helix, then it wins for wood hands down. Otherwise I would vote for Beast and then ST, Boss, and Wild One. I don't know why people would vote for Legend...the helix is the only boring part of that ride.

Steel: Raptor

Wood: Beast for intensity, Sonny for brutality, KG's Twister/Legend for fun! :)

Steel: RoS, Titan, then Goliath for intensity, Nessie for fun....note to BGW: PLEASE make sure the tunnel's theming stays intact. All of the inverts with helices are great, love feeling the blood rushing to my FEET (for a change)...;)

Woody: SFMM has a Bayern Kurve, they're becoming more rare but I don't think they're *endangered* yet...

edit: Paul has the right answer in terms of steel, Mindbender (MY Mindbender) has the "third loop" that rivals Twister in terms of elevation change IN the helix for a FUN yet powerful element...:)

And finally, in tribute to ARN&R's "Site o' the Weak", the "Helix of the weak award" goes to SFFT's Rattler, whose triple-helix mid-ride promises SO much but delivers SO little...;)

The Titan wins hands down, because you can't pick them up on the Titan's helix. My hands have been up on all the others mentioned, can't seem to do it on the Titan.
