120 mph and bumblebees of death

I got a wasp down my shirt on Son of Beast a couple of years ago. My train got stuck on the block brakes, so I couldn't stand up to get it out... it stung me four times in the shoulders and back.

Don't ride Raptor at night in the front seat because the lights that are under the cobra roll attract a swarm of flies. THe first time I encountered this swarm I thought someone had thrown a fistful of sand into my face. It was an unpleasant experience to say the least.

HAHA Yes! I almost forgot this memory. On the front row of millinium force I had the worst/best ride ever. I came off the ride with bugs covering every part of my body exposed to these disgusting nats. I even pulled my shirt over my head at one point on the ride. I coudn't stop laughing and the bugs were getting in my mouth in record numbers. When I came off my white shirt and face were soaked in bug guts, everyone was looking at us like "What the f---". Riding front row on millie at night should be a situation on fear factor.

My first ride on TTD was a night ride in the front seat just before the park closed. When I got off, I noticed my shirt was littered with little bugs. There was also a larger one, about the size of your standard house fly, that had become one w/ my shirt. I still have the shirt and there is still remnants of the little feller on it.

Most Roller Coaster Trains are designed aerodynamically for that same reasons. The "windsheild" on some coasters are designed to help push the air out faster so that bugs do not become an issue.

Size is also an issue. Cars are signfigantly larger then roller coaster trains.

Chuck, who ran out of two gallons of Washer fluid and had to stop at a rest area and had wipe the dang bugs off that became so thick you couldn't see at all.

Now that you mention it, I remember seeing huge swarms of bugs driving through Illinois, unlike anyplace else! The people I was with were wondering what was going on because it was so bad. It looked like a low-laying cloud and then the windshield would just get covered...

Was it along I-64 by chance?

Haha on the ACE European Coaster Odyssey on the way through either Belgium or France we hit a moth storm. Coaches are NOT very aerodynamic. You do the math.

I know when I rode Face-Off at PKI it was raining and even though it doesn't go extremely fast, I hurt like hell!

Yes, a MOTH STORM.

First time on Supes back in 00 it was raining, not really hard but it definitely was hard enough to sting like crazy when doing a good 70 MPH.

Thanks for the warning on Face/off,now I know not to ride Two face in the rain...then again if it's raining then the ride usually isn't running.

I actually found riding MF in the rain a blast. Even though I've sorta become numb to the drop, I had a hood on and I was covering my face with my arms. I had no idea when the bottom of the drop was coming and I just kept falling. The sensation was incredible. Yes it does hurt. Just cover your face with your hands and you are fine.

covering your face with your hands is the only logic thing to do, but i liek to see where i am goign next. especially on Milli, thats my baby.

My first ride on TTD, front row, I got off and had five or six bugs on my face. I didn't feel a thing.

Corey, It was on I-90 West that I hit all the bugs. I was on our way to Adventureland Iowa and before I reached the Illinois/Iowa line I was emptying our water jug to clean.

Read Sean's TR about riding MF in the rain and then getting back in line, Because there was none :)

I drove from Columbus to Ft. Wayne, IN, once at night, and the bugs were so thick that the wiper fluid didn't even do anything... just made a gross bug/fluid sludge and spread it across the windshield. Disgusting.

Too keep it on topic, It was durring a trip from park to park.

Rode Nitro at SFGAdv twice in the rain...loved both times...as I yelled on the ride, "It hurts so good!!!"...yeah it does hurt like hell, but it's kinda in a fun way...in a masochisticly fun way!

Robocoaster and I got a ride on Desparado in the rain. Now that has to be unique, considering it's location. Robo claimed it was his first ever ride in the rain. Hurts so good is definately a great definition, of the rain and not the transitions of Desparado.

Only with my luck would I get a vacation to Vegas where it rained almost every day. Still got a ride or 15 (Speed) on all the coasters though.

Well, I don't know about MF, but with TTD it's called a huge projectile going approximately 120mph every 45 seconds. Even birds aren't *THAT* dumb. :)

I usually wear sunglasses on most coasters. I have contacts and they can dry up pretty fast. I DO like to keep my eyes open afterall. :-D
