Yes. Gone! As confirmed at Eastcoaster by their PR Department. No word if it will be melted down or resold but who would consider buying such a piece of junk.

Nothing says credibility like a SuckNetwork user!

It's been said by quite a few attendees of EastCoaster, so let's see how long this stays as lacking credibility.

If Mike says he heard it with his own two ears, it's as good as gold to me. POSSE members are indeed 'bad ass', but not liars!

Viper will stay. They won't get rid of it. They dumped a ton of money into it 2 years ago to get it up and running. Besides they want to keep it so they can keep up there coaster count. This rumor comes up every year. I'll believe it when I see it.

Thanks,
DMC

it was said at the event by gadv's pr people. They also showed the parks pamphlet wich is at gadv.com on their forums. ITs true. They said for future expansion ? Does gadv have a contract with intamin. Are they using it for a future adition to gk. I just hope they remove viper at the end of the season. I dont think a big open think of concrete would look good with the new section right there.

Oh man Bill, how right you are,the only people that really care are the parks that want to show thier size or the people that need to have a count large enough to think they need to demand respect. You and I have over 300 and I don't respect you at all :)

Like numbers really matter, just being able to get out and ride coasters, we should be grateful for what we can do.

I really really hope that damn ride is gone...as many of you know...I hate the s**t out of it! I hope they put something really cool in it's place...or maybe they'll tear down that piece of crap Rolling Thunder as well and build a new woodie in that area!

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Mike, Do you know if it's gone now? And are they using that area for the GK? I think that if they are not planning to add anything in that spot this year than they might as well leave it there until they need to clear it out for a new ride. It would suck to just have an empty space all season.

LOL.

Coaster counts are yesterday's news. Now it's all about having lots of space, and being able to expand things like waterparks and creating brand new "areas". And I'm going to speculate that this new trend will include Sandusky and Santa Clarita. ;)

While I wasn't at EastCoaster, I've heard this statement from enough people that I trust (including Mike) to trust that Great Adventure's PR people really did say this.

From what I've heard, it won't be missed, but I never got to ride it so for my own selfish reasons I'm sad.

I rode Manhattan Express in Las Vegas in January, while I did get banged around a little bit, it wasn't nearly as bad as the head beating I took on Anaconda at PKD last Summer. So toss me it into the pit of those that never got to ride the coaster and sorry they didn't take the oppurtunity to ride it.

A day at the park is what you make it!

It wasn't as bad as most people will have you believe....although you may not want to take my word for it since I have been blessed with the Togo gene. I'll actually miss ol' Viper.

Thank God!!! I just wish they could manage to put a good stand-up coaster in its place. I missed shockwave when they took it out in '93. If I'm not mistaken there is no stand-up coaster in any park within at least 3 hours drive from the NYC Metro area.
