SuperMan: The Escape- is it a COASTER?!

This has been brought up before, and I think we can decide once and for all. Heck, if you go to the Superman Escape site here on Coaster Buzz, the other says "Should this be here?" I say no. Coasters need at least one of these three things- turns, lifts, or loops. How about you? What do you think?

I say it's a roller coaster. Why not...Superman Ultimate Escape is the same basis and we call that a roller coaster.

I said same basis...they are both shot out of the station into a big hill (ok, one twists). They both run on rails, they both use gravity...sounds like they are both coasters.

Ummm...I think we have a dead horse here. I don't see how this debate could somehow be decided now after so much fruitless discussion. The arguments are out there; it's pretty much up to the individual to decide.

I'll just say Superman: The Escape is the world's tallest THRILL RIDE. Millennium Force is the tallest CONTINUOUS CIRCUIT coaster in the United States. I guess I would call it a coaster but I would always use the words "shuttle" and "continuous circuit" in these types of discussions.

Why must we start this again?

S:TE is a fast ride. It is tall too! Does that make a coaster? I dunno.

Superman is a ride. :)

I have thought about it for a while, it's like a shuttle coaster without inversions.

Over all though, this is a "Pandoras Box", it's best to be left un-opened.

S:TE is the tallest Shuttle coaster, MF is the tallest Continuous Circut coaster in the US, as StarCoasters said.

It you say S:TE isnt a coaster, then you are saying Deja Vu and Boomerang coaster aren't coasters either, which isn't true. Any ride that runs on a track is a coaster.

well it cost like 25 million to build and it was a huge investment and the whole debate is pointless. A carnival ride can count as a coaster like at many parks. But when some huge expensive new thrill is put in that doesn't run like other coasters people jump on it. being deemed a "coaster" all of a sudden makes it the best ride possible I guess. But I'd rather ride S:TE at SFMM than the Wildcat at Cedar Point or the Galaxy at Canobie. and yes I'd rather ride it a lot more than Goliath Junior which probably cost the park a few thousand to put up.
