Hydra

Hello everybody, I am new here since i just turned 13 a few days ago. i just wanted to tell everybody that i was at Dorney Park earlier today with my family for the water park and we walked through dorney a little bit before we came home. on days like today we don't stay very long because we have season passes and can come anytime. we went by the joker ride and saw a lot of green roller coaster pieces sitting in the dirt right behind joker and there's a big crane there too. you can see them really well from the walkway near the big snoopy. i'm sorry if you all knew about this already. i am not old enough to have a camera or anything so i don't have any pictures but if anyone else is going there soon you might want to take a look. the pieces look really fun! there's also pieces near meteor.

Sorry to say this, but we've known this since last year. Hydra: The Revenge is a floorless coaster to replace the Hercules coaster. Footers have gone up and Raptor-like pieces have been at the park for a couple weeks now. http://eastcoaster.com has construction updates every once in a while.

What do you mean you're not old enough to have a camera? I had a camera way before I was 13 years old. Now if you're talking about a digital camera, I guess I could understand. That's great to hear that more track pieces are coming in, and I can't wait to see it take shape (which reminds me--someday I'll have to post the Steel Force construction photos that my grandfather took for me).

I wasn't old enough to buy a camera when I was 13, but mostly because I thought cameras were boring and for Japanese tourists. I'm still going to miss that first drop on good 'ol Herc.

XSC: Xtreme Statutory Coaster

Could be a letdown. I know many were looking forward to Olsen Twins: The Ride, but frequent breakdowns lead to extended downtime, a major rehab and disappointment for all.

After the disappointment of Spears: The Experience, I'll watch for Lohan: The Ride, but not expect much ...

Not to mention frustration... probably mostly amongst older males.

Speaking of Hydra, I think it went vertical today. You could see that track and other green "stuff" had been moved onto the main site by the huge crane that's there.

If not today, then really soon I guess. Anyone visit today?

It'll be great to watch the ride go up while the park's still open!

I know I can't make it there tonight or tomorrow, but I guess I'll have to make a trip to Allentown on Wednesday night after work. It figures, up until last week, I had spent the last two months working in the Allentown area and I was able to drop by at pretty much any time. If it did go vertical today, I'll definitely have some pictures by Wednesday night.:)

I know you all have known about Hydra for a long time. i was writing to tell you that there are new pieces there. i go to dorney a lot in the summer with my family and i was there the day when the crane got there. the pieces i saw today were not there on that day. these are new twisting pieces, and they are down near the joker where there wasn't anything before. i don't think anything was attached to the ground yet, so if thats what you mean by vertical i don't think anyone missed it yet. but i left in the early afternoon so something may have changed after i left, i don't know.

I was there yesterday. There were 2 pieces which looked liked they were 2 pieces for a barrel roll in the area where Hercules left the station. The rest of the track pieces look to be located on the other side of White Water Landing. No pieces of steel were set yet. Near The Joker the footers are set up looking as if that area may be a Cobra Roll!

I took a few pics I'll try to get them up sometime today.

Other Dorney news last night Revolution was only operating at half capicity. 4 arms were roped off.

Yeah - I was wrong about it going vertical yesterday.

It did today, however. There were a couple supports sticking up this afternoon.

coasterpunk: if you get the pics up from yesterday, I'd be really interested in seeing them!

Who was it on these boards that revealed what the layout would be? (was it MOOSH?) Can someone describe in detail how this ride will be placed in that area of Dorney...

In a nutshell the inversion order is Inclined Dive Loop, Zero-G, Flat Spin, Cobra Roll, Flat Spin with the Dive Loop placed up behind the restrooms near Meteor and the Cobra Roll landing by Joker (a few more details in that thread)
