Dragster's snapped again...

I don't come bearing any visual evidence of the cable being broken because I didn't have a camera with me today, but I would hope that my long posting tenure here would dispell any thoughts that this is a hoax.

Today the ride went down because the cable broke. The cable was hanging down where it enters the motor's room and it was all coiled around itself. It seems as though that they were trying to make quick work of getting it replaced. Hopefully this won't cause too much downtime for the ride. Last year when it snapped, didn't they have it up within the week?

I would say the crane on the webcam lends some credence to this.

What a pain that ride is.

Murphy's Law has struck me...I am leaving for CP on Tuesday(from Nebraska) and planned on riding TTD on Tuesday night.

I can't remember how long it took last time to replace the cable, but I am hoping that it goes quicker this time, based on the learning curve principle.

I know, no one has a crystal ball......

Last year the cable broke on let's say a Monday night. It was up again Wednesday night. (I forget the actual day, but I was there. Opened roughly 48 hours after it snapped.)

I've been screwed once, hopefully not twice this year. I couldn't ride superman at Darien Lake and now this?

I'm going to CP June 23-24-25

But Cedar Point being the god that it is will have it open. If it was SF, it wouldn't be open till August, but CP can handle it.

Peabody's memory is like a steel trap. I was there, too (that's where I got my profile pic). And those 48 hours might have been shortened if the weather hadn't been monsoon-like the first evening after the snap.

Oh yeah...I forgot about that! The second day I think it would have opened before close had it not been for that weather. Nasai and I drove back the next day from SFWOA so we could get a chance to ride it. Our gamble paid off...we got to ride :)

It's too bad this happened. Hopefully they'll fix it soon. I really wish someone could have had a picture. Also RoS, I'll be there on the 23rd also.

Cool. Maybe I'll see you there. Dragster should be open by then. I need to go on a fast ride, power riding viper @ SFDL just doesn't do it anymore..;)

Yep, because the S:ROS clones were down forever in order to entirely re-do the restraints. And I'm really tired of going to Six Flags parks and not getting to ride coasters because of snapped chains.

Hey Cedar Points not the park that has had their Intamin ride down for months like Superman the Escape. I'm sorry if you took my view on SF vs. CP in relation to only SROS. I'm saying in general with SF rides and parks.

Last time, did the cable snap or just come loose? I seem to remember both reports.

I heard that it snapped, but it would seem to be more likely that it just became loose (because of the very quick repair). I'm hoping they'll keep a few on hand in case this happens again (so that they dont have to wait to receive a new cable). Too bad I'll miss you guys at CP, I'm going June 27-July3...

Aw man, this is like a repeat of last year for me... I am going tomorrow! The first time I went this season the ride broke down, then a thunderstorm rolled in and we just went home because no rides was open. I was really hoping my friend would get to ride it for her first time but I guess that's just how it goes. sigh

Now you're comparing a seasonal park to a year-round park, which is ridiculous. The fact is that rides go down sometimes because things need to be fixed. Downtime has nothing to do with what company the park is owned by.

How long was Perilous Plunge down for? I know it was quite a while.

CF is not perfect either.

Ok then let's not talk about Superman Coasterdude318. Let's talk about X and all the problems its had, or De Ja Vu which has also had its share of downtime. Unlike these 2, Dragster was closed almost the entire first season it debuted. And dragster has new technology thats bound to have problems to begin with. X has difficulties that a are design flaws, especially the trains.
