Kennywood trip...feasible in 5 hours?

I'm planning a trip, and other plans are going to only allow me 5 hours at Kennywood, (11am-4pm). This will be on Thursday, June, 24th. Is 5 hours feasibly enough time to ride, Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt, Exterminator, Racer, Phantom's Revenge, Pittfall, and King Kahuna?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

School picnics should be over and done with by then so it should not be a problem.

I spent about that long there last year on a saturday in July. And I was able to hit everything in that time frame.

You should've hit the park today... the threat of thunderstorms kept everyone away, yet we only got a light rain for about an hour.

You could've ridden everything listed up there twice in one hour.

Coming at 11am helps. Start at the Exterminator, hit the Pitt Fall, then Phantom, then Kahuna, then T-Bolt, Racer, Rabbit. You'll be going opposite the flow of the park, and even on a busy day, you should have plenty of time left over for a Kangaroo ride or two.

Agreed. On a busy day jack rabbit, racer, and thunderbolt will have wait times ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. This is ususally at peak times of days that are pretty crowded so it can be easily done.

The key will be to be one of the first people through the turnstile. Like someone else said, go through the tunnel, turn left and head straight for Exterminator. Ride it, then head for Phantom. Then head for Thunderbolt. Finally head for Racers and Jackrabbit. Then go back to Exterminator and repeat the circle. By the second time around, the lines will probably have begun to build.

I went on a VERY busy Fright Nite last year, and was only there for 3 hours. Did all coasters(except Jr. Phantom and Exterminator was closed) atleast one time(Racer 2). Had plenty of time to do other things, but didn't. It was crowded and I still had enought Time, so I'd say you have plenty there.

I rode all the coasters 2 or 3 times with 5 Phantom rides about 4 hours last year on my trip very doable.

If you can try to allow a little time for some of the smaller, older rides such as the Whip and the Old Mill. These are real classics even if they aren't big thrill rides.

To sum it up, you're asking if you can hit 7 rides in 5 hours at Kennywood on a Thursday.

Well, from experience you could easily lose an hour or more waiting for Exterminator. So I would agree to get there as early as possible. Even if they're only running one train on Phantom's Revenge, you should still be able to get at least two rides in. One concern I have for you is that you want to ride Thunderbolt. There are no single riders allowed, but there is a workaround. Wait in line, and when you get into the station announce that you're a single. They'll pair you up with another single (you may have to wait a bit). Unlike your screen name's homepark, the line for King Kahuna shouldn't be that bad, and it runs a much better (and much more intense) program. Plus, you might get a little bit wet.

Even on a moderate day you should have no trouble hitting all the rides you listed.

Definately, it's a weekday all should go well for you if even for just that fact. :)

If time allows (which it should) be sure to hit the Kangroo, the Turtle, Noah's Ark, and Old Mill (in that order) these are some of the rides that make Kennywood special and shouldnt be missed if possible.

I'll be with another person, so the single rider problem won't be a problem, thanks for the headsup though. Thanks for all of your help guys. While i'm at it, where should I sit on the coasters for the best experience (read: airtime).

You dont have much of a choice on Racer or Jackrabbit. But on PR I preffer the middle, you seem to get great air without the violence of the backseat and the second drop seems much larger since you cant see the bottom until your going 70mph.

If you get lucky, the backseat of the jackrabbit will provide you with the one shot of air that is unlike any other. And I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but the old mill isn't the old mill anymore.
