Kennywood trip...feasible in 5 hours?

DO try and hit the Aero360 as well as the aforementioned Old Mill, Kangaroo, and (Mangels') Whip...you'll be glad you did. KK runs a nice program...

Myself, I like the "violent" airtime...YMMV...;)

edit: Five hours may be "enough" for Kennywood....but you'll be back...;) *** Edited 6/4/2004 4:58:08 AM UTC by rollergator***

'gator brings up a good point in that last line.

5 hours is enough for those 7 rides (and maybe a little more), but it's not even close to enough time to "get" Kennywood.

Definitely consider a return trip when you have a full day to spare.

See... by my way of thinking, I'd say screw the Aero and Kahuna. These newer rides are great, but you can ride them in other locations, too.

If it's a once-in-a-blue-moon visit, I'd hit the coasters and then stick to unique rides. Whip, Turtle, Kangaroo, Ark, Old Mill, even rides like the Swing Around and Bayern Kurve are few and far between these days.

The park has a great collection of unique and normally defunct rides. I'd stick to them in your free time.

Hi

Don't forget about the Auto Race!

If you love air time, you have to ride the Flying Carpet:) It's a grreat ride...just wished the ride had a longer cycle;)

Repair order for Kpjb:

-The Carpet needs to be lONGER! hehe

The legend continues
The only problem with doing Kennywood in 5 hours is that you'll want more. I was there sometime in August for like 6 hours and left wanting so much more. I did get plenty of rides on the coasters but I wanted more! All the rides there are fantastic. I need to go back there this summer.

I really focused on the coasters when I went so I'll have to look forward to some of the flats when I return. The Kangaroo looked like so much fun. I was disappointed that I missed the Ark because I've heard fun things about it.

As someone else I'm sure mentioned, backseat Jackrabbit and thats the only seat you need. 'Nuff Said.

Have Fun! I'm sure hitting the coasters in 5 hours is doable but whether you can force yourself to leave may be the problem.

I did Kennywood in 4 hours last year on my way to Cedar Point. I wanted to stay so much longer but we couldn't. You will want to come back. We got to ride everything once. Beautiful park and PR is amazing!!

Thanks,
DMC

I'll be at Kennywood for the 2nd time next week.

Last time I only hit the coasters. This time I want to see all the rest that Kennywood has to offer.

I should try to get the back seast on Jackrabbit as well. I've only rode it in the front seat, and even there it had the sickest amount of airtime I've ever experienced.

We did Kennywood on a weekend in May 2002. We spent the entire day there and rode most of the coasters two or three times. Exterminator was the only slow line. June, July and August will be much busier, but I wouldn't worry about crowds on weekdays.

The worst thing that could happen is a couple high schools might have end-of-year bashes. But you shouldn't have any worries. The staff and security are great. We delayed leaving the parking lot because we thought we might be leaking radiator fluid. Within 5 minutes we had a couple of Pittsburgh's finest (cops, not mechanics) under the hood making sure everything was fine. When people say it's a great park, they really mean it.
