I'd probably ride this, and I have to admit it looks like the scariest thing since the Orange Grove Cyclone.

I've got an Apple G4, and the video played for me, even though it was trying to point out that I have an outdated version of Windows Media Player.

Is it snappable?

Chuck, who thinks Flyers of some form over the side would be great :)

I'm with Richard Bannister! I hoping that vomit is evenly dispersed and unnoticable after dropping about 1000 feet! Not cool! LOL! *** Edited 4/11/2004 1:11:46 PM UTC by FScottS***

I was told that if you spit off the Effiel Tower it would create an impact crater and kill a person if you hit them on the head. Stratosphere is the same height so that means that the projectile vomit would be fatal too. Unlike my heart attack this wasnt found in a scientific journal so Im not sure if that is true, I do know that pennys are fatal at that level though (no pocket change allowed on that ride).

Back to the heart attack, I believe the articles main argument is that their was signs of a heart attack in victims that had fallen from high levels and not in other patients that experienced similar trauma. Therefore, the heart attack proably did not occur due to the injury therefore it happened before impact and thus is the cause of death.

I think the only thnig that oculd top this ride is a bungee cord drop off the tower, or Huss Topple Tower.

Actually a penny falling off the Empire State Building would not be fatal. The show "Myth Busters" on the discovery channel shot pennies at the speed that a penny would reach from falling that height and they found that it wouldn't be fatal. In fact, they ended up shooting each other in the butt with them at that speed.

Here's a site where a guy debunked the penny off the Empire State Building mathematically. It all has to do with Terminal Velocity - the speed where drag matches the pull of gravity.

Something that I noticed that doesn't appear to have been mentioned yet. The seats are inward facing. When the ride picks up some speed and the seats move outward, you will be looking down. Freaky!

Don't know if I'll ride this one. Guess I'll have to wait until it's built, I'm in Vegas and witnessing it first hand.

humans do not die from collision of falls from that height they die of heart attacks.

You know... I'm not at all certain I wouldn't have a heart attack just RIDING The damn thing... I'm pretty certain I wouldn't throw up... I've only ever gotten sick after riding one coaster, that was Manhattan Express and THAT was because the damn restraints beat the hell out of my ribcage. Even so... this thing... I just don't know... I already won't go on Xscream.

I noticed that this morning. There's no way in hell I'd ride that or X-Scream.

I'm with you Moosh. My girlfriend and I were in Vegas at the beginning of March, on the top of the Stratosphere with every intention of riding X-Scream until we got in line. There was no way in hell I was going on it! I did ride High Roller and the Big Shot though, so I don't consider myself a collassal wimp. :-) *** Edited 4/13/2004 11:55:49 AM UTC by tambo***

Is this basically just a WaveSwinger type ride that they are wanting to add? From the animation that is what it looked like. I'm not sure why that would be "so bad." Perhaps we have a few acrophobists on these boards? (*cough* Moosh *cough*) ;)

it looks similar to X scream in the structural design and color scheme, and from the videos the chairs look like X screams. any word if this is an interactive ride? just an observation.

i might do it...liquid courage will make you do anything:)

I'll only ride if they give me cyanide pills to bite in case I DO fall off. On the other hand, I actually think I could enjoy the fall as long as I know I'm a goner the instant of impact. I'd hate to go on thinking for even 5 seconds afterwards. Ick.

As mentioned, it's a lot like a wave swinger except the seats face inward, which quickly turns into downward.
