Stratosphere Wants To Add Another Ride

Well....if I got to ride with Dawn I might have to change my mind... :)

Is anyone else having a problem loading the pictures and video on that website, because I'd like to see what everyone is in a tizzy about!

That thing is beautiful.

I think it is a problem with them... I am having a problem seeing it and I could see it earlier.

I say the Stratosphere's ad campaign should read: "Screw Ex-lax and flush the Metamucil! The next time your constipated, we have all you need!";)

I wanna see a Top Scan(Cliffhanger) on top of that tower..

i watched it...it doesn't seem that scary...

I would have to say that i would be scared to ride it because i would rather be thrown from a ride @ 20 ft vs 1000 ft. I think i have a better chance of survival from 20 ft lol lol. I think it would have been cooler if the pod that actually spins rotated to an angle of about 30 degrees like the wave swingers do so people can really get a view of whats below. But that could be too much stress on the structure. Im now of the few on here that would have 4th and 5th thoughts of riding that thing.

I can see the picture, but the video still won't work. But by looking at the rendering, I can say that I would love to ride it.

Another plus to it being that high up in the air: you dont die from collision.

Thats right folks, I read this in a science journel, humans do not die from collision of falls from that height they die of heart attacks.

If you have an apple it won't work because apple's are only configured to do quicktime streaming and not windows media player.

I think I would be much more willing to go on an intamin coaster that goes straight down off the side of the tower (in the shape of half pipe but with the ends like an arrow shuttle. I could handle that. X-scream and the new ride look over the top. And I did do Verti-go when it was at Cedar Point facing straight down the whole time. I was fine with that, but this is just insane.... Literally.

This ride looks so very very wrong! I am wondering what would happen if the arm gets stuck in the outward position. How would they get people off of the thing while they are hanging over the strip like that?!!

Anyone know who would be manufacturing this ride for them? Better be some real solid construction on this one!

I had the extreme pleasure of riding X-Scream multiple times last weekend and can't wait for the next wild ride atop the Stratosphere Tower. Keep 'em coming!

Skydiving: Not as much stress/fear/adreline is pumping through you (since you know you are not going to die), plus I believe the heart attack doesnt happen until right before impact. In that way its like those lovely dreams where you fall, right before you hit you wake up, except this time you die.

Airplane Crash: You are not going straight down, and all the crashes I have heard had survivors managed to hit the ground after leveling out thus simulating a normal air landing.

That thing looks insane. Last time we were in Vegas we skipped the Strat. and now I totally need to go to Vegas in another year and spend like three days there! Ha! I would so ride this! Not sure about my parents...

The "dying of a heart attack and not from collision" is unfounded. I'm sure it has happened, but (a) there have been cases where people have fallen from extreme heights and lived, and (b) many times it may be very difficult to determine cause of death if someone's fallen from so high (not to mention the need to perform an autopsy would be pretty minimal).
