Semi off topic Hershey Stadium & Darien Lake

I was just curious if anyone has seen concerts at Darien Lake and Hershey Park. I am going to both parks to see Dave Matthews Band this summer. I was just curious on the sound quality and stuff like that at the venues. I was going to spend the day time hours at the park, tailgate before the shows, and go enjoy the shows.

I'm going to see Van Halen at Hershey this summer, June 13. After 12 years I finally get to see Eddie live :) :) (Sammy's back!!!)

I'm not kidding.....they're reuniting and the first few dates have been announced.

Usually the concerts at Darien are pretty good, since the sound isn't too bad. If you have lawn "seats," beware, since I have never actually sat on the lawn when I had those tickets. That concert is usually crowded, but you can get on some of the rides, especially if you're there right in the morning.

At least it never will be like Ozzfest, when it poured and the lawn was destroyed by the mudball fight.

While I've never seen a concert at HP, the arena looks very professional, and many pro acts have played there. I'm sure it's fine.

I've been to two Dave concerts at Darien Lake, and they are not dissapointing. One of them I spent roaming the parking lot with friends behind the lawn fence...what a free concert! I'd recommend the seats if you don't like drugs and alcohol, or if you want to get anywhere close to the band. You'll need to order tickets RIGHT when they go on sale if you want seats.

Hershey's sound is excellent, the concert can be heard from the parking the lot. the soudn is clear.

I already got my tickets before they went on sale through the DMB fan association. For Darien I am in the pavillion and for Hershey I have reserved field seats. Not to mention tickets to 9 other shows across the midwest. :)

That's ok, Brian. I've lost count of how many times I've seen Rush over the years. I can remember seeing them in college, looking at the older members of the audience, thinking "Wow, I hope I'm never like that." Now I think I AM one of those "like that"...

Come on, Greg. All the cool people are into Prog. :) I'll take a Rush or Dream Theater concert over just about anything!

Well, Journey is coming to Wild Adventures! (Though is it still Journey without Steve Perry? :) )

Sigh, I'm missing a Dream Theater concert as I type (didn't feel like making the trek out to Greensburgh tonight). I'm going to have to catch the King's X show at the Pittsburgh Hard Rock to make up for this.. (Not that I'd want to miss that show anyway).

I'm missign their DC concert as well :( Didn't work out for me this tour...hope to catch the second leg. Rumor is this summer their second leg will be co-headlining with Steve Vai. (Last summer with Queensryche and the summer before that with Joe Satriani I saw)

A friend of mine won on-stage passes to Sammy Hagar over the summer, and Journey was headlining the show. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but I've never seen a crowd get so into it. They won me over that night in July.

As for Van Hagar, I think Sammy brings so much energy to that band. (not that it needs anymore with Eddie already in it) I'm surprised there hasn't been more publicity surrounding this tour. This is probably the biggest reunion since Sabbath in '98. Sadly, I don't see any dates set for Chicago, or anywhere near it... *** Edited 3/24/2004 3:59:55 AM UTC by BullGuy***

Keep in mind that Hershey has 3 venues... Hersheypark Stadium / Star Pavillion (outdoors), Hersheypark Arena, and GIANT Center.

Most of the summer concerts (including Dave Matthews) are held in the Stadium / Star Pavillion, not in the old HP Arena or GIANT Center.
