I swear from the press release and Tim Black at NCC all of orleans place would be renamed Mardi Gras. Did anyone else get that idea?

Also people have been saying that the wooden bridge has been removed and that is where Rajun Cajun will go.

The suspension bridge would be the one you are talking about I assume, since the would not remove the covered bridge into Yankee. That would be enough space if they knocked down the two games stands there. Very Interesting.

Wow. I knew the expansion was of decent size, but this is a complete facelift.

BullGuy.

From what I have been told, the area from the railroad bridge to the Yankee Harbor bridge has been gutted with the exception of the restaurant.

It's safe to say we will not recognize the area. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Honestly I couldnt be happier with them gutting out that area, it was such a waste. There was no rides there (except Raging Rapids that will stay) and the theming was like a cheap version of Main Street USA @ Disney World, which did not fit at all in the Orleans Place theme, a Mardi Gras themed area definatly will, and there will be rides there again (Cajun Cliffhanger and Power Dive RIP).

I got a press release today about the Top Spin. I wasn't sure if it was clear that's what it would be because I never read much into this thread.

Does this mean I can flash my boobs for some beads??? ;-D

As long as it's on Eagle's first drop (or any drop, for that matter), the answer is yes! :) But why work so hard? If it's beads you want, take Nasai along as a member of the party. I understand he doesn't even have to drop trou to get beads tossed his way...;)

Does this mean we'll be able to walk through the area without being assaulted by the various "vocal stylings" being piped out of the recording studio? :)

At NoCoasterCon, the new GM specifically said that everything, but the Orleans Grill had been removed. I assume that we will no longer be subjected to Great American Idol wannabes.

Where do I sign up for the role of the drunk guy puking his guts out in the corner. Also will there be an alley that people will be able to urinate in, just like the real New Orleans during Mardi Gras. LOL

And isnt Mardi Gras only suposed to really start going after dark? I guess the park is going to have to ajust the hours to be open all night along (5pm-7am);).

I figure everything will be transformed to Mardi Gras but we won't really get much out of it besides the theme of the area. There's a reason why they still have a week set off in May for Mardi Gras. But with the new rides, new theming, and hopefully that live jazz band things should be looking good come opening day.

SFGAM is having Mardi Gras Festival on the weekends in May. I suspect they are doing this to promote the new area. Also, the New Area is not expected to open Till May 14th, 2004.

But at the same time it isn't like this is the first year they've have the festival. So it's not really imo a way to promote. Im hoping they get this thing up and running by opening weekend because im planning on going may 2.
