Stratosphere's New Ride: X Scream

I'd imagine they'd have some type of permanant barrier making it physically impossible for the train to flip over the edge. I guess the ride would be as scary as you let it be...if you think too much you'll realize that you're much safer in the train than in your car ride there, but then it takes some of the thrill out of it. Now if you try to scare yourself going in and make yourself believe something bad could happen, then you'd get a crazy ride. I noticed on a web page that it's made by Interactive Rides of Logan, Utah....correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that this is where S&S is based. Is there any connection between the companies or is it just a coincidence?

When does it open, I'm going to be in Vegas Fri-Sun and want to hit it, but if I can't oh well.

Now all they need is a screaming squirel that loops under the tower and this will be the scariest place on earth.

I happened to drive by as the ride tested yesterday. OMG! That is some freaky stuff. It's going to take some serious dares to get some people on that ride. The front car litterally hangs off the edge of the track!

Attractions based on near-death experiences, stripped of all other elements.

For those of you wondering...

It's physically impossible for the brakes to fail. They are Magnetic , and , unless the poles of the earth switched around they can not not stop the train. And if it builds up too much speed , as in the case of the Supermans , I'm sure it'll have backups.

Btw , the only reason I'd even think about getting onto it.:)

Without a doubt Statosphere is going for the "You're Gonna Die" aspect of thrill rides...that's why the rides have been so successful. Even if people won't ride X-Scream, they will still pay to go to the top of the tower and ride the other rides.

Also, someone mentioned brakes failing and what not...they have a plunger on the end of the track akin to that on the Intamin Impulses...still not very comforting almost 900ft in the air!

This ride will be the death of me if I ever get to ride it, I'm scared of elevators, and petrified of heights (really only in buildings, i seem to be fine with coasters of any height). I still have to ride it. Although I have no idea how I'll get into that elevator though, that poses a problem....

Just wondering, how are the lap bars on this going to be comfortable. If you stop quickly won't you fly forward at all? Also, has anyone ridden the smaller Knott's version. I thought I heard a while back that it wasnt' a good ride.

The knott's one is tiny in comparison.

Saw it all up and ready to go on my way to school yesterday. This thing is just freaky the way the whole things just hangs right on the edge. The first ride in a very long time to inspire genuine fear in me.
