Once again, I am NOT talking about listing stats on individuals, but on coasters. For example, say 50% of people who rode over 100 rides chose a coaster over all others. On another, say 75% of the votes were from people who have ridden less than 100 coasters. That may be meaningless to most people, but I would get a lot out of it. So if you're talking about me personally, then yes, I do respect some opinions more than others. Not to say every opinion doesn't have an equal voice in the final vote tallies, but if I want to know how good a ride is I'm going to the guy who's ridden the most rides and thus can compare it to a wide range of top rides. It's the same as anything else -- if you want an informed opinion, you talk to the guy who knows the most about the subject, right? (If not, it'd be a good idea; you generally get better advice that way.) If we knew what groups the votes were coming from we'd know a little more about how that coaster compares with others.
For example, say there's some small ride someplace that doesn't get recognition or hype like the others, but 80% of its votes were from people with a significantly large track record. That means a lot to me; it says that the ride is very good and may deserve to be at the top regardless of the number of actual votes it gets. Now does it actually get listed there as a result of some votes having more influence on the system? Of course not, I explained that in my previous post.
But it would allow us to see where the votes are coming from, that's all. Kinda like dividing up the pres. vote count by state, I guess.
Would this actually have any meaning at all? Who knows, everyone could vote such that the stats are never high for any one group. But it would be interesting to see this implemented.
Hopefully that clears things up a bit...
