Video of "Petrified" coaster riders at CP

Got this article sent to me today it shows a 11year old boys video of coaster rider's getting down from coaster yesterday because of blackout. Title of story is "Boy catches video of petrified roller coaster riders".

Rofl! When ads collide. When I looked at the story, it had an ad above the article saying: "Sponsored link: Cedar Point Sandusky Ohio. Discount tickets. Save money, and never wait at the gate again!"

As for the story, yeesh... sensationalistic garbage at its best :b

Not to be rude. His parents must be proud, such a nice picture of their son.

This begs the question, is it more "petrifying" to ride a roller coaster, or evacuate it. I'm sure that'll be a sweeps piece for this news station next year.

I don't get it - is he a hero for having the video? I guess I could understand if WEWS wanted to use the footage as part of their story, but why is the story about the kid himself?

I've been more and more disappointed with the quality of what they've been doing in the news department at WEWS for the last six months. It's like their producers have gone stupid or something. Their coverage was especially bad during the blackout. WKYC (where the Webmaster contributes stories to CoasterBuzz :)) has really turned things around, and with their new station has great technical quality in addition to good content. Tim White is Cleveland's premier new anchor, a real class act on the air.

Hey Jeff, I have always liked WKYC when it comes to news in Cleveland with Channel 19/43 coming in second. I think Fox 8 is terrible and Newschannel 5 is even worse.

19/43 is crap. I have a friend that's a photog there. He calls it "reAction news" since all they do is read the Plain Dealer and follow up on their stories. 3 has come a long way. Back in the tabloid-style days circa '93 or '94 they were crap too.

Oh geez. People get stuck on a coaster and think it's the end of the world. This sort of reminds me when there are talks of a tornado and all of a sudden the local grocery stores are mobbed.

I am glad I visited Wednesday. :-) The heat has been especially bad here in Ohio the last few days so I can sympathize with that. :-(
