Bye Bye Texas Twister and Silver Bullet!

Well, I was at SFWoA today, and Texas Twister and Silver bullet are just about gone. I heard rumors of them being moved to the WL side, but who knows. What are they going to put in their places? Or will they just expand the midway? Anyone have any idea whats going on?

I dunno.. there was a fork lifter thingy there, but it had on an attachment that looked like it would carry parts to a truck or something, not that big bucket ;)

I have heard rumors the last year that one or both would be moving or taken away.

This could mean a couple of things. I do know it would clear up room for:

A) BIGGER midway

B) New Ride/Coaster

C) New Midway actually use the "hidden midway" leading to Grizzly Run.

Something strange is REALLY going on at SFWoA since this past Sunday!! Not sure if it's good or not. The park isn't talking.

Well, there have been rumors of Villain derailing or something, track spliting, I dunno. That people were injured, today the flags were at halfmast and stuff, its been really strange, so who knows.

Flags may be at half staff due to the accident at SFNO. MagnumForce, you really put a smile on my face, thanks.

Not the Bullet!! They just got that thing running great. Probably the best running Enterprise in this part of the country. Hopefully they just move it elsewhere in the park.

Don't get your hopes up too much, I don't think moving the Silver Bullet and the Texas Twister will give them enough room for a coaster, unless they move the buildings and shops in the area too.

I was told by about 10 employees when I was at the park that Texas Twister was just getting a new control panel and that the ride is supposed to open on the 19th. No one I asked knew what was wrong with Silver Bullet though.

They don't need a coaster there.

They need a wider midway there. And back between Batman and Grizzly Run. Two spots that are TERRIBLE choke points in that park.

I seriously doubt that the Villain could have derailed and it not made the news. If people were injured, there would have been ambulances and if there were ambulances, there would have been news crews.

So other than a Villain derailing or Deep Impact : Free Willy, what "happenings" are we talking about? My curiosity has been piqued ...

Villain did not derailed. According to people from inside the park, a section of the track broke and the metal rail for the wheels came off and did some damage to the back of the train (don't know if it was the red or the black train). No one was injuried, now just wondering if they'll use the wood that was for the Wolf Bobs and fix it or contact Gravity Group to fix it.

I was wondering the same thing. However, I have heard that the crowds on the Sea World side have been...well, they haven't been. Maybe this is a desperate attempt to get people to go over to the wildlife side.

I do agree that there is a "size of midway" issue here but doing something about it during what should be your peak of attendance weeks seems...well...very SFWoA-like.

Hey Jeff! Given the fine reputation of this park---What can we expect. I've managed to hit this park once a year for the past three (I'm originally from Ohio and still have parents there)! While I do enjoy a few of their coasters, this is one of the worst run parks I have been to. I can't imagine too many people ever leave the parking lot without numerous complaints. Half of the rides never run anyhow, or if they do, they go at about 1/10th capacity. So now they are removing rides in the middle of the season??? Guess they did not have time in the off season when any average park would facilitate these types of moves??

P.S. On Sunday after Coastermania I could have gone to SFWOA, but I chose to hit the Cleveland Zoo instead. This is the first time in my life (I am 31) I can ever remember choosing anything over a trip to an amusement park. The pathetic operations and treatment I have received at the place have finally replaced any joy I could receive on their rides. Screw them...........at least until they add another major coaster I have to get on! :-)
