Bye Bye Texas Twister and Silver Bullet!

JefferyRSMith:
As for SFWoA's rides being down, you should have gone this year. The ONLY ride that has remotely even been down is Texas Twister. Compared to years in the past though, yeah they have had problems. But just read some of the reports about the park this year. As for the strange things going on this week...

Slver Bullet was scheduled for a rehab...But right smack in the middle of the season?

I was also told that Texas Twister is getting it's computer and panel all changed out. At that time I was told by public relations that the structure was fine (remember last season the structure and harnest system recieved work). Personally I don't see how or why they would remove a highly themed flat ride. Though they cold if they wanted to.

As for Villain. Personally I don't see how anything could be hidden like everyone else from the media. But I have talked to two different people (not related) and recieved a few e-mails. The stories are just to close. There is NO official information on it yet.

People WERE hurt on the Villain (though no one seriously). As for the news, that's what I've been trying to figure out all week. Solon Hospital isn't much help. No one was seriously hurt though from my findings. A lot of splinters, and some form of whip lashing (from the train valleying I would assume). Still waiting for the park to respond. I have confirmed there were park medics in the area of Coyote Creek Sunday 1-4pm. One of Villain's trains was stuck on the hill...no visual of the other train. Ride was shut down on Monday "Due to Maintenance.

That combined with SUE, Texas Twister, Silver Bullet, and flags at half mask (which I have been told is for the Geuaga County/Lake Sherrif passing away this past week). Makes up for a strange week.

I think they should move them to the WL side and expand the midway in their places. SFWoA really needs to expand the midways. The WL could use some more rides, that side is really dead and they need to draw more of the crowd over there, even things out. I can't understand why they would just disassemble two flats in the middle of the season.

What happened with S:UE?

And am I the only one who caught the sarcasm in Jeff's post? I seem to remember another park pretty close to SFWoA that moved rides mid-season last year ...

Which park was that, and which rides were moved?

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Like you have to ask. Cedar Point moved the Chaos and Troika so that they could show the world just how big they are.

Oooooh! You want a cookie or something?

There's a difference between moving a ride in September to build a 420-foot coaster and moving two rides (one of which is among the best in the collection) in the middle of July.

That's what I thought.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

But if Cedar Point decided to move two rides next June or something... it would at that point be ok for SFWOA? After so many years, I'm glad that the park has finally allowed other parks to have problems with their Intamin coasters as well.

I was planning to go to the park on Tuesday, but if both SUE and The Villain will be closed, I would rather wait until later in the year when both will be open. Any ideas on when they will reopen or if they're already back in operation?

Ah, I get it now. Removing flats in the middle of a season for a 420' coaster is acceptible, but do it for any other reason [like perhaps a smaller coaster or other improvements] and that's wrong.

Nice double standard.

I think they should get a giant lemon just like CP! ;)

You're all full of crap and looking for a fight, and I mean that with the greatest love and respect.

If CP removed a ride today I'd be pissed and think that was lame, regardless of the reason. There you go, Danny Boy. Happy?

If a park removed a ride late in the season when they were only open weekends and the bulk of the season had passed, I'd be OK with that provided there was some reasonable explanation (like keeping the construction of a new ride on schedule).

To take a Top Spin out of commission in the middle of July, the start of the busiest part of the season, is still lame.

That's only a double standard if you're trying to put down a fanboy like me who has a well-thought out argument.

According to park spokeswoman Shannon Pack:

Villain-
Had Mechanical Problems this Sunday...No one injured.
Villain is up and running as of today.
No information on Second Train if it is or not on running.

Silver Bullet- Is not moving. Down due to mechanical reason. Will be up and running shortly.

Texas Twister- Is suppose to be up and running "VERY Shortly"

S:UE- Nothing happened to it as far as she knows and it was up and running when she came to the park today.

Shannon knows nothing and has heard nothing about anyone getting hurt at the park or anyform of anyone going to a hospital of any kind for treatment.

End her information.

While we have only SFWoA what can one do now but assume everything is ok at the park. Unless something or someone comes out and says something. Strange, park says one thing and a few people say the other. It could be all an overblown story from when people have seen the train on the lift stuck? Who knows.

As for Silver Bullet being totally gone.
according to her it's just down to Mechanical reasons and will be up and running shortly. I never new a park to totally take a ride apart and move it out for mechanical reasons and say it will be up and running shortly. maybe it's something under it? Hopefully they will paint it before they put it back ;)

Moving on now unless something or someone jumps out of the dark.

Jeff, you're not taking a ride out of service mid-season if it hasn't run all season! For Geauga to yank out the Texas Twister next week (which, of course, RCGod now says isn't happening) would be a little like Kings Island taking out that second antique car ride track in mid-season.

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

I'm just yanking your chain a little Jeff, but no one here is looking for a fight in the least! I never care when you do it to me. We're all friends here, right? :)

I agree with pretty much everything you said in the last post and I was pissed when Knott's removed two rides I didn't even like. It's disappointing when any ride has to go. I have a lot of respect for CP for keeping the rides and moving them to a new place *and* I think it would be silly for SFWOA to move/remove Texas Tornado and Silver Bullet in the middle of the season for no reason (blah, rhyming). If there are mechanical reasons like RCG said, that would be fine. Just get them up as soon as possible.

Jeff - I'm not looking for a fight but it would have helped if you'd included that explanation in your earlier post. I'm not a mind reader.

Well just so ya'll know, I just called the park and they report that Shouka is now freely swimming Geauga Lake.

Widespread panic and disorder was stopped thanks to the cool water of Shouka's tank, it seems it cooled down the meteor enough that the world averted disaster.

If given the choice I'd choose a hamburger over a hotdog anyday of the week.

Actually moving these two rides would relieve a few problems in that area.

People seem to have a problem finding the entrance to Grizzly Run. With Texas Twister gone, you will see the sign better from the midway.

And with TT down all season thus far, moving it mid-season wouldn't be considered lame. It would be different if the ride was already operating.

I hope they do a full refurbishment and paint these rides while in the process.

I wasn't aware that the ride had not operated all season, but that too is lame.

Yea.. All season they talked about a new PLC or whatever, just never happened. Just hopefully they dont take out TT for good, the first top spin should stay!
