Wicked looking ride at carnival. (Again)

Geez, after the prices some of you are stating it costs to get on this ride, the 8 tickets they were asking for at this carnival wasnt such a bad deal.

I've seen those all over the place. They're normally found on strips that have roadside go-kart tracks. I saw one in some Orlando strip next to the Disney area and also in Pigeon Forge. I don't trust them though, I've never trusted any carnival rides... :)

Yeah Scott... you blew it! $8 to ride those is a huge deal. Man, I love them, but at the Puyallup fair, they want $30/couple to ride. Did it with my daughter 2 years ago, but couldn't get Chris on last September to save his life. He was impressed by the madness, but couldn't quite bring himself to get on board. At least I coaxed him on the Zipper! :)

I do love the ride, but I'm told that the *driver* is the key in getting great flips and insane orientations....Katanga definteiy gave me a couple of those *aaaahhh* moments...:) I'll have to try Boomers' now that Katanga is no longer operating...(Boomers' was also pretty cheap, around $10/rider I think)...

P.S. The Ring(s) of Fire(s), IIRC, were originally Larson products, although at least one or two others manufacture a similar ride.

I just went past it today on the highway. I didnt see it in motion but it look a lot cooler in person. I did see that little loop thing in the picture operating. Looks like a carnival ride just waiting to get stuck.

That ride is totally nuts. I rode whichever one Wade Shows Inc. has and although we only got a short ride, it was a crazy one. At one point we were flipped upside down as the arm was traveling down in complete freefall; all I can say is wow.

Even a better deal JD, is that the carnival has a $40 all day ride wristband which includes this Zamperla ride.

You could ride this insane thing all day for $40.

I've ridden both the Skyscraper (Dorney) and the Turbo Force (Great Adventure, which I think was removed), and both are scary. I actually felt less secure on the Zamperla model, because it only had an over the shoulder restraint, with some kind of secondary locking mechanism. The 5-point (I think) restraint of the Skyscraper feels much more secure, believe it or not. Pricing wise, you couldn't beat the $8 GA was charging.

There's one of those beasts in the Wisconsin Dells, near Big Chief. I think it's 20 bucks... but I think it also looks a bit taller than 150 feet. I'm not sure, though.

There's one of these things at Datona Beach, called "Wild Thang". ..I rode it about 3 years ago, and still have dreams about being thrown into the Atlantic

The one at Dania is awesome! It's a Gravity Works as was stated, and IMO, they are head and shoulders above the Zamperla models. They have no brakes at all on them, so you can flip as much or as little as you want (the Zamperla ones stop you at the top so you can't flip it -- booo!)

SpaceCase...yeah, they are hazardous to your hands if you hold them out! Stupid damn crappy ride. :)

Boomers' Skyscraper GONE too? Bummer!

I really DO believe that the *key* to making one of these things *profitable* is the very item that keeps coming up.....pricing. At 20-30 a pop, the rides tend to stand there waiting for a customer to happen by....when they're priced "appropriately", the crowd that lines up to ride draws even MORE people, and the ride basically keeps itself operating....profitably...;)

Of course, I *could* be wrong about all that....your call...;)
