S:ROS MAXIMUM height?!?

What the heck? I was looking forward to getting to ride Superman Ride of Steel this summer, and to my dismay, found out that the ride has a MAXIMUM height of 78 inches. This concerns me for a number of reasons. 1. My brother cannot ride no matter what (he is 83 inches) 2. If I grow one more inch I can't ride (although I haven't grow in 4 years) 3. Does Millenium force have this restriction too? If so, my brother can never ride THAT either. 4. If Knott's builds an intamin hyper that has the same restrictions, and my brother can't ride, and it's questionable for ME, I will be severely angered. Anyway, that's enough.

MF does not have a height restriction to my knowledge. I think that total bulls*** that a sit down coaster, let alone one without OTSR has a height restriction.. Are they worried about people loosing their heads? There should be no question of leg length either, because I am 77" and I fit in MF just dandy. Also, all people have different leg, arm, hand, head, body dimensions regardless of height. So if they are trying to use an excuse "since you are taller, your arms are longer so you cant ride" then they are just Morons with no background in human anatomy.
What MF does have is a seat by front of the entrance to the queue, so if you think you will have trouble fitting in you can see if you will fit. My only guess to why they have a height maximum is because of the seats, which is a problem solved by doing what CP does as described above.
Finally, people aren't getting shorter with time. Heck, in 10 years 6'6" will the normal height of some men. I doubt Intamin, a company that claims they are ahead of the curve would design a ride which eventualy a good portion of the adult public won't be able to ride.

In 10 yrs, 6'6" will not be the norm for adult males. Currently, the "average" height of a adult male is 5'09". Just a little FYI and that average hasn't grown significantly in the past 30 years (maybe an inch or 2 tops).
Evolution won't make the average adult male 6'6" within the next 200 years unless they're living on 3-mile island, or in Springfield where the Homer Simpson lives.

It was only like 20' off the ground. He suffered nothing more than a broken arm at most. I think he filed a lawsuit later against the park for negligence, but it was deemed his weight was the major contributing factor in the incident. After they re-opened the ride, they installed seat-belts.

Hey dawg byte where did you come up with the info on only a broken arm at most the guy ruptured his abdominal wall and has to keep a girdle on all the time for he rest of his life, thats no broken arm.
As far as height goes its not your head but your knees that are the problem they stick up high and have a harder time closing the lap bar.

Timbobarry, to answer your question, Vekoma SLC's have a max height too. At least Serial thriller at sfaw. It made me so mad that my brother had to sit and wait while we went on it. That's the only other one that has a max height that I know of, but I think the dueling dragons at IOA has one too. :(

Well, I'm 73 inches,(6'3), and I fit easily into MF back in August. I had my hands up the whole ride, even through the tunnels, and at no time did I think I was even close to hitting anything. That's really bad to hear about S:ROS. Although I can ride it, it means that taller people won't get to enjoy it. Intamin should've made it so that anyone no matter how tall they are could ride it.(Excluding people over 10 ft. of course;) )

It was my understanding that S:ROS @ SFA has a maximum height requirement, not because of train constraints, but because of the clearance exiting the first helix. I know that the support there looks *awfully* close. MF, to my knowledge has no such 'close encounter' so it doesn't have the 'tall sticks'.

On S:ROS@SFDL...... I got hit in the hand at full speed by a support in '99....
...they ended up putting a height restriction on the SFA version...
...is it because of me? Who knows.... but dont blame me for it cuz I was in a LOT of pain :/ and that part was designed very poorly....
...oh, and BTW, I am not even CLOSE to the maximum height so I really don't know whats up with that...

Yikes, I misconstrued even my own words, I deserved that thrashing. The only way the average height would ever get up to 6' 6" is if all the short people died or all the young people turned into 8' monsters.
What I was trying to say is there are going to some more people that are going to be over 6'6" and may not be able to ride. There is evidence that people are getting taller. I quickly searched the Library of Congress next door to me and found some tables. The Average height of men in 1900 was 170 cm, and the current average is 176 cm. This means that younger people are the reason for this small increase and they will be taller than the current average.
This increase was much smaller than I thought. I looked at the NBA and see 30 years ago I would be a Center/Forward, where as now I would be only Point Guard! Also most of my friends are right around this magic number of 78". You also look at Arrow Mine Trains made 30 years ago, and even when I was still only 6' there was hardly any legroom. Anyway I learned something today that I've been wanting to know for quite a while :)
Putting Evolution and Natural Selection aside, there are tall people like myself, saviourmachine, and his brother who want to ride coasters!!!
Like I said having a height limit set in stone makes no sense because of peoples different body dimensions. I hear on the Vekoma SLC's, what matters if your feet touch the floor, not height. SFDL_Dude may have long arms and that may be a reason why he hit a support.
AS for the guy falling out that was a weight issue, which has NOTHING to do with height. Weight is something most people can control and people should not be punished for their height.
Also, I think I could hit my hand on a MF support. There is this one on the first Overbank that I think I could reach, and I've heard people say they have.

If I recall correctly, I believe I read over on GTTP that if you are 6'4" and you stretch, that on the Millennium Force, you can touch the tunnel. I can't confirm this because I am only 5'4" (I'm 14 yrs. old, not very short).

I think it was in science class, or somewhere in school I read that your arm span is your height, so if you hold your arms out horizontal to the ground, and measure from finger tip to finger tip, then that should be your height. I just tried it and my armspan was off from my height by 2 inches.
So as a conclusion from all of this useless information, your height may in fact and most likley does effect your arm length. Just thought I'd let you know.
