I'm proud of six flags this year!
I'm proud of most of the six flags park because all the new coasters have new names. I mean look at all the Batman: The ride's, all the Superman Ride of Steel and several others. This year unique names have been made like Nitro, X-Flight, X, Deja Vu, Batwing, and Vertical Velocicty. I hope Great America Comes up with unique names for there two inverts.I mean i was getting sick of the all the Vipers and other names.
I, on the other hand, am NOT proud of Six Flags this year as they have completely ignored some of their smaller franchises.
Need I really name them?
All I can say is that they exploded with improvements in their bigger parks (Magic Mountain, Worlds of Adventure, Georgia, Over Texas), but just neglected the smaller market parks.

Each park should be completely independant with their own funds, and I am pretty sure with the money they racked up in parking & ticket sales, they have enough to open up a couple new rides/attractions at some of the parks that are getting nothing this year!!!

I agree 100% with dawg byte. This reminds me of government. It looks good on papter but behind the scenes the smaller under appreciated parks are getting nothing. Well maybe that's an overexaggertation. But I honestly hope SFAW, SFKK, SFFT, SFDL, the great escape, and SFEG better get something next year. and I fully agree that every Six Flags park should have their own funds and they should be spread out equally.
I think that parks like Magic Mountain and Worlds of adventure get more revenue, because they have more attractions. Therefore, they will get even MORE attractions. It's a never ending cycle where the bigger ones just keep growing, and the smaller ones stay the same. To comment on the first post, I thought it was really cool that they stopped using superheros too. It's cool to an extent, but after a while, it gets old. I am proud of six flags.
Six Flags is a business they want to make money. They put in bigger rides where the demand is higher. You are going to put more rides by L.A., Chicago and New York, because the population allows you to draw more people and maybe you should compare your park to what else is around you, not to different Six Flags. Is there any competition? What the size of local cities? What is the tourism like? Sure, the people around Kentucky Kingdom would like a park like Magic Mountain, but it just is not going to happen. I personally think that Six Flags does a wonderful job of leading the market in world class entertainment and rides. Even if you do not look at the names of the rides, look at the new types of rides coming out. They are pioneering the rollercoaster age!! :)

I am happy with Six Flags except for one thing. Both super invertigos are named Deja Vu. I know the GP will probably never know this but I just think its pathetic that they have to use the same name twice even though there are about 3,000 different names they could give it. Plus, the third invertigo will probably be called Deja Vu also now. Just don't like it. It gets confusing when you talk about it.

Oh, The sad thing is that I have done the math for our local Six Flags park: Darien Lake.
Competition?
- Canada's Wonderland.
- Martin's Fantasy Island.
- Marineland Canada.
- Seabreeze Amusement Park.
Size of local cities?
- Buffalo NY, Rochester NY, Niagara Falls, Toronto, & Erie, PA!!
Tourism?
- Niagara Falls draws more visitors than Grand Canyon & Yellowstone National Park combined per year!!
I am pretty sure this adds up to being very good reasons why Six Flags Darien Lake should be one of the top Six Flags properties in overall terms of attendance, rides/attractions, & size. If they put their heads together, they can do it. They have the funds ($7 parking per car isn't paying for the maintaince to clean up the canadian geese droppings!!).
The question still remains why they are neglecting parks like these that obviously do have the potential!!
You must be missing something, because after several decades of being there, Darien Lake never blossomed into a Great America or Cedar Point. My theory is location. Of those cities you name, how many of them could really consider SFDL their own? Buffalo, I suppose, and that's not a huge market. Across the water you've got Toronto, which certainly has PCW in its backyard, a lot closer. As for Erie, a relatively tiny market, they've got SFWoA (isn't that closer) and a three-hour drive to Cedar Point.
I would have never bothered with that park if it didn't have Superman, and even then only because I was looking for a preview of Millennium Force.

Why is Ohio such a hot spot for coasters anyway? It doesn't have the biggest population. And the cities are big but they're nothign to write home about. and people talk about going to California and Florida for vacation. But why Ohio? To go to Lake Erie? This just fascinates me why it gets so many good coasters. especially SFWOA
(Heavy sigh), people, why can't you understand that when a chain owns 27 amusement parks, it's hard to collect profit for any unexpected accidents and repairs. They can't give everyone a new coaster every year, if they did all the parks would go out of business. And with a business that big, you gotta understand that it's gonna be welcomed into the corporate world. Filled with scams and high product prices. I can gaurantee, if CF had 27 parks, they would have the same prob. The people who started SF Parks want them all to be good-but it's hard to watch out for 27 parks! Think before you post, people.

I don't think this is the case. I think what bothers everyone is that an already strong park like Magic Mountain gets three new coasters in one year, only one year after getting a world-class hypercoaster. Meanwhile, SFEG, SFKK, and SFStL get... a new show. Wow, that's really going to pack the crowds in. I understand the whole ROI issue, and that's fine, but "you have to spend money to make money" is also true. I can't believe adding a new show every year is going to bring more money in to the park. I mean, come on, can't they at least afford to build one new flat ride? I don't expect a new coaster every year, or even every other year, but something other than a show, especially at a park that has been given the title of a Six Flags, shouldn't be out of the question.
As for SFA, I think you have it a little mixed up AIMCoasterguy. I believe that they aren't allowed to build more than one coaster per year. They were able to add Joker's Jinx and Two-Face the same year because they took one out.
I agree that every SF park should be able to keep its own funds, or at least a good portion of them. Then no park would be completely neglected like SFEG. But SFEG's fate is kinda understandable, since they're in the Rockies and their season is probably shorter than other parks'. Also, what competition is even remotely close?
But the SFKK saga needs some explaining. I heard that PKI is the 2nd most visited park behind the obvious, CP, and even if that info is a couple years outdated PKI is still one of the busiest parks in the nation (thanks largely to the CP crowd I'm sure). And SFKK is at most a couple hours from PKI -- how's that for potential guests? But SF seems to have forgotten they own it. I stopped there on the way back from PKI and that place is a dump. It needs much more than just some exciting rides. I wish SF would either sell it or show some interest in competing with PKI.
Overall I like SF, but they have a serious problem with neglecting their own parks. But I guess that's the way businesses work -- they do whatever is necessary to make an extra buck and we can't do anything about it.

First off, Ohio is rather populated, with metro Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati accounting for 4.6 million people alone. Consider Detroit (for Cedar Point's sake), and add another 3.8 million people. Add Akron/Canton, Youngstown, Toledo and Dayton, and you've got another 2.5 million people. That's around 11 million people to visit Ohio parks.
I can't speak for the other cities, but Cleveland has loads to do, even though us locals often forget that. The Rock Hall, Science Center, the Zoo, the many museums of University Circle (including the highly regarded Cleveland Museum of Art), the shows at Playhouse Square, our "little Broadway," the Flats... lots to do. If you haven't been to Cleveland, then you don't know what to write home about.
Besides, if you already live in Florida or Cali, where do you go but north?

The Akron area was a desitnation in itself with the Football Hall of Fame, Inventors hall of fame, SFO and SWO. If SFWoA can prove itslelf, the greater Cleveland area could become the Florida of the north for summertime.
As for Six Flags parks that get one or two coasters every year, they are going to have to eventually take some out as mention above. Not every park has a Sea World Next to it they can buy.
