This is not a Vs. thread!

I was just wondering how the two rides compare?

Well, the only visible diff. between the two is the turn right after the pretzel. But from what I heard, the pretzel is still really intense. So who knows.

The pretzel loop at GADV is indeed very intense! The most forceful element I have ever been through. I haven't been to the one at SFOG but I imagine it is similar.

Another difference is the Great Adventure version not having a "dual-loading" platform like the one in Georgia.

I was at GADV last Sat and watched S:UF test. I have ridden the SFOG version and it appears that the exit to the loop is a lot higher then SFOG's. The spiral drop after the pretzel is also totally different. I woudl assume that even if the loop were "tamed" the addition of the 8th car would negate things.

a little off topic, how long do you think it will be until SFMM gets a S:UF clone??

In all honesty isn't X essentially a flyer?

X a flyer...not in the least, Brent....at least not IMO. Sure, the flyers are great, and offer a completely different orientation than *normal* sit-downs or inverts, but they are *fixed* in the single orientation throughout the ride. X offers a variety of orientations, and changes rider position DURING the ride....

Yes, flyers are good rides, and even though I prefer the Vekoma layouts, there really is *nothing* else that even comes close to the B&Ms. But X, that is a completely different animal. Can't wait to get one on the East Coast in '04, even if it is a "compact" version....*drool*,,,;)

But think abotu it Bill. X does all the things a flyer does, and then some. Doesn't it sort of negate the need for a flyer.

BTW Batwing last week made me realizer that even at their best Vekoma still can't do a thing right. If the trains were half as good as B&M's then we would be talking. :)

I've looked at picture after picture to see the difference between SFoG's turn after the pretzel loop and SFGAdv's. Does anyone have some good pics where wou can notice the difference and if you could explain it to me? Thanks and sorry I'm so blind.

The most visible things to me are that S:UF at SFOG is not a parking lot coaster and has nice trees behind it. Also, S:UF at SFOG is on higher land so the contours of the ride are much different. Plus S:UF at SFOG has the small tunnel before the helix into the roll.

SFOG's levels out before it dives, teh two new ones just spiral down immediately.

Check out my webshots and you can see what I mean.

Felt pretty much the same to me. I'd give SFOG's the slight edge. I prefer the open queue to SFGAdv's "hidden" queue. SFOG seems to set up things to highlight the pretzel loop. SFGAdv's pokes up behind the large building you enter. Plus SFOG's has the tunnel.

It's just not a ride I'm really into.

I agree with Gonchar.. We might be the only ones that have ridden both to this point. I think oG's is MUCH more intense, but the placement of GrAdv's makes it 10x more photogenic! Both excellant additions, but I'm ready to put oG's up on the auction block for a RoS. Either one I rode will do fine. ;)

Is it the real yellow or the yellow that they had on the coaster cars??

Well Great Adventure's has the better station/queue house .........so nyah :)
Anyway, I am willing to bet that Georgia's version uses the contoured landscape to its advantage, rather than being plopped on a flat pice of land.
