what is SROS?

i was reading this

intamin wasn't the first builder considered for MF. Arrow, B&M, Giavoinla, and CCI were all considered, but intamin was chosen because they made SROS.

I would like to know what SROS is

SROS is Superman Ride of Steel and it is located at Six Flags America, Six Flags New England and Six Flags Darien Lake. We really need a book of terms on this website for those that aren't familiar with all the acronyms and what not.

did you know that mean streak was actually made of wood? It was once debated that it should be made of plastic, but wood was the final decision.

WT was actually considered to be called "Twister that is really Wicked".

CP does not consider STE a coaster, because they're greedy on having all the coaster records. They don't want to share the records.

Cedar Point may have been impressed by Intamin's designs for the first SROS, but I don't think their decision was based on the actual rides. SROS at Darien Lake opened just one year before Millenium Force. I don't know, but I suspect that the contract for MF was signed before then. The other two SROS's at Six Flags America and Six Flags New England opened the same month as Millenium Force.

Yeah Rideman, thanks. That was why I was stressing the really when I said we really need a book of terms. I meant really as truly. I just read that topic the other day. Can't wait to see the acronyms and what not.

I remember when i first signed up with coasterbuzz...man was i confused.

Once you understand what the current abreviations mean, then your set. The new is easier to understand when you know the old.

Yup,we all we new to the terminology when we first signed up for the buzz & if you hang around long enough you'll catch on to the "enthusiast lingo" it's funny because now my friends & I never refer to parks like SFA or PKD by their official names anymore.

The lingo & acronyms are far more easy to use & remember once you learn them but it can be confusing at first.

Can you tihnk of any park that has not been buzzitized AKA abbrieviated for use in the forums? I can't, and it's all kinda easy CP,VF,AT,BPB,SF then any assortment of 2 letters meaning it's in the Six FGlags Chain. MiA- always throws me offf..... but I get back on when I see that ST is at MiA, which is owned my CF.... get it? good

I dont' think that Epcot gets abreviated other than dropping the "Center". Certainly no one says "EC".

I don't see Knoebels being abbreviated, either.

The one that confounds me the most... I have seen SFGA used for both Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Great America. SFGAm and SFGAdv would make life so much simpler.

Another one that throws me... MIA. When ever I read that, I think "Missing in Action?" and then a split second later "Michigan's Adventure" pops into my brain. (If it is abbreviated MiA as mentioned a post or two ago, my little pea brain seems to be able to translate it alright).

SFDL can also cause some confusion if referred to simply as DL... With out the SF, DL can be Darien Lake or Disneyland.

With all of the current events going on in the world park and coaster abbreviations are a minor gripe... I mean the big story I read today... the Arkansas state legislature passed a bill making Cloning illegal. You all can insert your own joke here... I just know I will sleep better tonight knowing this.

The thing I can't stand when people use abbreviations is when something other than a coaster, especially a ride or similar thing that isn't often discussed, is abbreviated by someone. PBR was recently mentioned in a thread somewhere. Took me quite a while to figure that the person was referring to Penguin's Blizzard River.

LoCoSuMo was one that took me weeks to decipher. I was pretty sure it wasn't referring to a crazy Japanese wrestler, though.

I like RideMan's abbreviations for things that don't exist (TCFKAB or SFGL).... ;)
