That elusive spinning mouse

That's the truth, Ruth. er, I mean Joe.

The darkness and walls really add to the experience in the Exterminator. I rode Primeval Whirl a couple weeks ago. I was really looking forward to it, since I hadn't ridden one outside before (although I did ride KP's before the scenery was up.)

What I found was that it wasn't nearly as exciting when you can see where you're going, and when you have big objects to focus on.

All in all, though, I do like the spinning mouse coasters much better than the traditionals. Regular mice do absolutely nothing for me, I wouldn't pass up a ride on a spinner, though.

see I thought Disney did a good job with it...it is supposed to be a family ride! Though I do take some pain to see that Disney just plopped that in there, sure they themed it but COME ON! I still thought it was a good ride though. Not very intense I actually got my mother on it who FEARS roller coasters!

I still stand by my statement that all mice (not named Mickey or Minnie) suck. And yes that includes Exterminator. I just didnt get anything out of the ride at all. Maybe it was a bad ride that I caught. Or maybe it's just a BAD RIDE. But whatever the case, I am certainly *not* excited about riding it again. Especially when the Kangaroo and Phantom's Revenge are in the same park :)

In my opinion the Maurer-Sohne spinning mice are infinitely better than the Reverchon variety. I rode one at Hamburg (Germany) fair a couple of years ago. Don't think there are any in the US yet, but the first one here in the UK is opening at Camelot (Chorley) in 2003.

190 coasters ridden (but it's still only early)

Gerstlauer also offers a spinning coaster. Grona Lund was considering buying one, but the tight clearances would not fit the spinning coaster so they had to purchase a standard ride.

LegoLand in Germany will get one of Gerstlauers spinning coasters for 2003. But I've heard it will be pretty short and have a simple layout.

The Legoland Germany mouse will be a Werner Stengel designed ride called "Gebirgsbahn". This will be a highly themed kiddie coaster, so you shouldn't expect too much of it.

Dutch Coastin' :: European coasters, thrills and theming!

I've been on 3 outdoor spinning mice (Lightwater Valley, Blackpool South Pier, Rotunda), and the one indoor one (KW's Exterminator). The theming adds a lot, although outdoors you notice the spinning more.

I've ridden spinning mice at Kennywood, La Feria [Mexico City], and one travelling the carival circuit at the Del Mar Fair near San Diego. Getting a good ride is a crap shoot...sometimes you spin a lot, sometimes not much at all. But I've enjoyed them all and wish a small park out here in LA would get one.

These coasters really are alotta fun, I've only ridden one that is in Brussels, Belgium and it was pretty darn intense.... I think the main reason why more haven't been installed is because of their ruffness.... I'm sure insurance is pretty high on these coasters.

The only spinning mouse I've ridden is Exterminator at Kennywood. They are smooth, and exciting. I liked it.

I've ridden 2 spinning mice. Exterminator and Crazy Mouse at Motorworld in Virginia Beach. I love exterminator. I found Crazy Mouse a bore. I've gotten good to great spinning on Exterminator and of course the themeing is excellent. Crazy Mouse seemed lethargic and didn't spin much when I rode it.

The one in belgium was pretty *rough*.... it must have been poorly maintained, but even so it delivered as I said before....

I rode exterminator and I consider it to be an excellent wild mouse ride. I love the themeing and indoor experience! My only complaint with it is that everytime I go to Kennywood, I can only ride it 1-2 times because of the wait. I wish not so many people come to ride it when I'm there. It might be because the ride cap. or that the park's don't want a plain one. Maybe their looking for an indoor one like the exterminator.

Well in to response to the ride capacity, the parks could just do as Phantasialand did, build two dueling spinning mouses (im not sure if they're spinning, but it's the general concept of two coasters that I'm getting across). This would of course double the rider cap. and create even more thrills with the dueling factor..... just a thought....

But would also cost twice as much...

Not if they can share a common support structure. I'd guess it might cost twice as much to operate, but there is probably some savings in that as well.
