New Types of Coasters

Two years ago, I would think what else can coaster companies come up with. Then came the floorless, flyer, and 4-D. Now we ask the same question. What IS left? I think an inverted coaster that is designed to run backwards. Anyone got any exciting ideas?

A roller coaster that runs on invisible track, now that would be awesome.

More realisticly, what about seats that would face outwards/sideways? It would create a unique experience with diving loops and helix's.

The Tilt coaster should come to the US soon.

I always thought it would cool if you were in vehicles, seats, whatever, that turned 90 degrees, outwards from the track, while going through a vertical loop. It's basically the same disorienting effect that is equal to looking to the side, but I always thought that it would be cool.

i hope that the screamin squirrel comes to a park soon. ohter than that all I can think is different rotational things like x or something turning on a y axis, or is the y axis height?

Looking out would be interesting. However if the coaster was going fast you would be smashed into one side of your seat or so one would think....

However imagine the view NOT being of the person in front of you's seat! That would be interesting.

I think they'll combine some types they already have now. Like the inverted standup, inverted floorless, 4d standup.. etc. They may also have different positioning for the vehicles. Like have the seats facing outwards, or backwards.

That would be more painful than two knives digging a hole in your back and trying to touch each other.

Anyway...I think that in a while a new material for building coasters will come out, like granite or marble. Also don't you think it would be cool to have a coaster who's track and train is made out of glass?

Inverted floorless.. like an inverted coaster but swings like a suspended. They have one on RCT2.

They're just some ideas, BTW... Jeez. They're not actually in construction.

RollerJunkie, they've already come up with that type of coaster. It's located in England and it's called Vampire at Chessingtons Worlds of Adventures.

Wow, that inverted floorless looks pretty kool. B&M should try making one. That idea of sections of track missing, not gonna work. Even if the gap was inches, the train would not run. About new types of coaster, I'm sure B&M and S&S/Arrow are already working on it. In a couple of years they'll come out with something that we never thought possible. I just can't wait to see what it is.

Granite or marble? Riiiight.

Um, the Vampire is not inverted. Inverted vs. suspended is defined by the way the body atatches to the wheels (i.e.: wether it swings back and forth or not). The vampire, which origianlly had typical Arrow suspended rolling stock, still swings just fine, making it suspended, not inverted. A floorless inverted would be pointless because, obviously, they already have no floor!

How about this. A coaster called the "Shape-Shifter" with several track sections that, with the help of interchangeable switch sections, could be ridden as various configurations.

The ride would be just as much coaster as "theme show". Every 2 hours or so that coaster would stop running for 5-7 minutes, and fire and smoke would pour out from under the tracks and the switch sections would reconfigure to an alternative design. Provided the switch sections were in low stress areas, and the "energy" in each parallel section remained the same, I see no reason why not!! You could have a card for each configuration you've ridden. Track not being used at the time would serve as impressive theming. What do you think??
