Today on TV Land the episode where the Brady Bunch went to Kings Island was on. I found it interesting that (when this episode was filmed) Kings Island was owned by Taft Broadcasting, but at that time Paramount was the producer of "The Brady Bunch"
Small world, huh? It was also neat to see video of how the park changed since then.

1974 I believe. The Canoe ride that they found the blueprints in was exactly where Beast and tomb raider are today.
Notice also that Octoberfest has been destroyed. The only ride in octoberfest is Viking Fury and that ride was not there when BB was filmed. Gone are the beloved spinnin keggers (Alice standing on ride when starting) Bayrne Curve, Ferris Wheel, Skyride, Tumble Bug, Flying Shoes, Rotor and Barvarian Beetle Anton mouse)
Chuck who says the pay extra sling shot is almost exactly where the other end of the skyride was. The south end station is now annimation station.

Charles Nungester.
Is it about coasters or friends? I say both!
Ah, good to know there's people even older than me around the place (even if by only a little).....thanks Chuck...;)
bill, who attended PKD at *around* the same time...'75-'77. Funny how people think of the two Marriott parks (PGA/SFGAm) as similar, but there's very little mention of the KD/KI connection....
Ah, but I can ride Cheetah ANYTIME, lol....(12 months a year that is, pretty cool for a GA park). Gotta love WA, they're only *busy* on those days when they have headlining concerts like Garth Brooks, Tracy Adkins, and the like...(pardon my disdain for country music).
BTW, if (big IF) you are *old*, what on Earth would we call the *real* old folks over at URC, huh? ;)
Everytime I go into the international restaurant's (IR) board room I think of that episode. Heck everytime I wonder the park. The log flume now Wild Thornberry's. The football toss game is still there in coney mall. I wish I had that episode on tape. I wanna see if the painting in the board room now is still the same or even haning up in the episode.
(work in the park's catering/company picnic department, our office is in IR)

Wood Rules!
When interviewed during the 2002 Ohio Governors campaign, Gov. Taft was asked to pick his favorite coaster: His answer? The Racer...
Typical politician, though. He didn't say which direction.
Anybody know if there is a relationship betweenGov. Taft and Taft Broadcasting?

Talk to the claw...
I love that episode. "Now Bobby & Cindy, don't you go off eating everything in sight"
I am surprised that the "Brady Bunch Movies" that were out a few years ago didn't have a "revisit" to PKI. How funny would that have been seeing the characters on the Drop Zone and Face Off. lol.
It's not like I watch the reruns or anything.
It's fun to see the Racer so young and what the park looked like 28 years ago.
Tina
Didn't the Partridge Family film an episode there also or am I mistaken?

Actually, Octoberfest rides were situated as such:
The Flying Dutchman sat where the Cybersez, Adventure Express exit and remote control cars now exist.
The Bavarian Skyride station sat where the entrance to Adventure Express is.
The Bayern Curve was located where the sling shot now sits.
The Der Spinner Keggers sat where the airbrushed t-shirt stand is now.
The Ferris Wheel was located in the area just to the right of the Festhaus front facade just behind where age/weight sits.
The Bavarian Beetle was located where the Festhaus now sits.
The Rotor was located to the left of where the Festhaus now sits.
