SFAW New Ride Guess

www.sixflagshouston.com says that SFAW will be getting a new attraction for 2003 in TT's old spot. I know most would think that nothing could fit anywhere, but what about a Zamperla Volare flying coaster like at SFEG? Anybody think that's a possibility?

Doubtful on a Zamperla Flyer, remember that basically on TT's spot, you could fit probably 2 or 3 KMG rides, like an Afterburner where TT is standing. The ride's footprint is VERY tiny, considering that they put a coaster on the same plot of land that Skyscreamer, a 1st gen Intamin freefall, so its gonna be hard to get anything large in. My personal best bet, is a flat of some type, hopefully a good flat though.

It can't be any coaster too big because TT is not even dismantled yet. A big coaster would take a while to build, and AW probably does not want to wait until June to open it's new attraction.

uhcougar: Although, Texas Tornado is a portable coaster and can be disassembled in days if SFAW was really wanting to get the ride out of the park. The first 2 loops and drop is already removed, the rest of it will take no time at all.

An Impulse coaster would not be the best solution to a new ride in place of the Tornado. It's track path is linear, which would pretty much waste all available space the park has which instead could house a higher capacity ride such as a Zamperla Flyer as someone mentioned above.

Most likely based on six flags' new ride program for SFAW a small used rollercoaster from one of the other parks. But not Shockwave.

My "best guess" at this point would be a new flat, but a used coaster rates even higher in my book...just not as likely...;)

If a coaster were placed in that spot, we're looking at impulse, wild mouse, or Zamperla flyer. There's not much other than that that would fit. However, this is probably all academic since they are most likely not getting a coaster.

The park doesn't want a wild mouse, and the Zamperla flyer rather falls into that low capacity wild mouse genre. Though yes, they would fit there - neither of them are going to.

For progress on Tornado's deconstruction, SixFlagsHouston.Com has a set of photos we're updating. It's not coming apart really quickly, they seem to be taking their time and doing a careful job. The loops are out in the parking lot currently.

My guess is a high-tech 3 story state of the art dip-n-dots stand.

I just can't see corporate being stupid enough to send AW another used coaster with all of the down time that their current used rides have.

The spot's a bit too small for a super invertigo, though that would be nice. Too nice...too good to be true. Another hypo. question though. Wouldn't the park easily be able to install an impulse by extracting Ultra Twister? It wasn't meant to run this long anyway, and if you ask me, the ride on it is no longer fun. Give us a NEW working ride SF!

Keep Ultra Twister, remove Batman the Escape--great layout, hurts like hell. I spent two days there this year and all the coasters ran (with the exception of Tornado, of course) without incident.

I say we keep all of the rides that are currently working until we can get them replaced with other coasters. Although BTE and UT have lost their appeal, they are better than a empty space.

UHCougar, is that like saying bad sex is better than no sex ? I have to disagree. AW could strongly benefit from dismantling Ultra Twister and putting a dbl spiraling impulse in that space. Its not as though the footprint wouldnt accommodate the ride, and lord knows compared to the other versions of coasters, an impulse is fairly inexpensive. If "NastyWorld" were to get a clue, they would do away with Batman and use that land for either a floorless or a flying coaster. Now before many of you denounce me and say, "There is already a floorless coaster in Texas", let remind you that there will soon be 2 in CA. Why shouldnt TX reap the benefits of cloning ?? Of course a B&M flyer would be preferable since its obvious Fiesta Texas didnt get the bid for it. In all honesty, I have lost my taste for AstroWorld. When moved to Texas in '92, I thought it was the best park in the state. My what a difference 10 years makes.....

Batman the Escape has a fat chance of being extracted. With it holding the name of the only stand-up coaster in Texas, and knowing SF's marketing schemes, this coaster will remail for quite a while. What it could use though for at least an aesthetic booster is a paint job. The ride needs a paint job BAD. If the park where to recieve any new ride, it would either be in TT's old spot or my suggestion to extract Ultra Twister. Does anyone else agree with me that UT's magic is kind of gone?
