B&M Lift Support Placements...

Do any of you know how to build a sundial out of a pen and a donut?
uh oh, sounds like someone has a case of the mondays.

With the exception of supports on Nitro, all of those mentioned here are angled to deal with lateral forces.

The Riddler's Revenge, Mantis, Kumba, and many others have angled supports due to an obstruction below the lift, not because of lateral forces. And this thread is just about the support columns on the LIFT hills of B&M rides, not all support columns in general...

Air also has it, when it goes over Nemesis, so i think it is about what is below the lift hill.

I actually thought only the stand-ups and hyper B&Ms had those kind of supports. Maybe for looks?

WCS, Kumba, a sitdown, has those supports while Raging Bull, a hyper, does not. it has nothing to do with what type of coaster it is. it has nothing to do with looks. it has everything to do with what is below the lift. all of the coasters mentioned have something below the lift that would make it impossible or impracticle to have straight supports so the supports are grouped together. that's it.

What about Superman Krypton Coaster? It has these uneven supports as mentioned. Using my memory from when I visited, I can't recall anything directly below it, I do think that area floods however. Also, the uneven terrain may have been the cause. What do you guys think?

I think it has something to do with the instability of the land at that certain spot deulingdragonsrok11. That's just me though. The flood theory you proposed is a good one too, but I don't know if flooding is a normal thing down in Antonio.

silverstar, the B&M hyper at europapark has straight lift supports, too, but territory is flat and stable and even though the first drop drops right onto the driveway to the park, there's not much under the lift except silverstar itself.
