Nitro's queue

Does anyone know what those little blinky red lights are on the sidewalk of Nitro's queue? I have heard a few different theories- and I have been wondering about this since it opened! Anyone?

I'm pretty sure it's been discussed before and I'm pretty sure the consensus is "theming" although the entire industrial theme is pretty darn weak.

Yea that's our wonderful parks idea of theming for that ride... there really is noe significance for them being there.

I never thought of them as anything other than theming. Yeah, that queue line has horrible theming, but the ride more than makes up for it!

Darn right the ride makes up for it! I happen to know what they are. They are light sensors. When it gets dark out they turn on the que lights. You can see this during the day if you cover them. My friends and i were testing one of my theories on a bet by covering them. Image the looks we got sitting on the funny little things. Lol. The lights came on about 5 seconds later.

It's just an effect. I really don't think they have a purpose. They're there for themeing.

The lights were there last year, and Q-bots are new this year, so I don't think so. As for sitting on them and waiting for lights to come on- I'll have to try it! But I'll have to wait a whole 5 months!!! I hate the off season :(

line is pathetic? its moves fast and you get great visuals of B:TR from it. Something to cover the first part of the queue would be nice to protect from the sun. like a tarp for shade. just an idea.

Can I see a picture of these light? I heard about these and I want to see what they look like.

I noticed them lights too! I doubt they are used for anything though. Like some of you said, it's just themeing.

I really doubt that they are for theming. Almost everyone doesn't notice them. I think they are light sensors.

Liar, you stood in line last year too; for the first ride anyway.

I always assumed the light were like indications of detonation of explosives (NITRO=nitro-glycerin a known explosive). Like in the movies how all the time bombs have flashing lights before they explode.

At first I thought maybe they were to count people, but with fidgety people standing around and walking around them, I decided that was silly and it was probably just some kind of weak theme attempt. Hey, this is that park that put a purple and green coaster in with a mining theme and called it Medusa, which has little to do with mining or the frontier nature of that area of the park!

You people haven't found out yet? It's a line sensor, to track approximately how long the line is. Depending on how many of these register movement, they decide how many trains should be running. If the line reaches down to the switchbacks, it's 3 trains, if the line ends at the stairs, only 1 train. In between is 2 trains.
