I'm annoyed by the location of some. Two amazing coasters in Japan, Steel Dragon and Dodonpa, place their on-ride cameras in horrible locations. Steel Dragon's is right before you even ascend the lift hill. Dodonpa's is at the very end of the ride, well after the thrilling elements. Lame

I dont like the location of Millenium Force's on ride photo in the tunnel. I want a picture on that ride outside where you can see the ride in its full glory :)

Yeah, well nothing is as horrible as any photo (well, most) by Freeze Frame, inc. On rides such as Kraken, Apollo's Chariot, Alpengeist, S:KC, and Steel Eel, the flashes come from about 10 different large floodlamps all inside a small "shed". These lights flash at strange intervals, and can sometimes blind you. However, RXTechnology is a great system which uses high accuracy xenon strobes. These are nice and don't blind you.

Yes, it's scary how much I know about on-ride photos.

SoB has a lousy one. But all the other parts of the ride, the train is shaking so much they may not be good qualitie! But you can get some funny pics from them!!

They could do a before and after shot on SOB. The before shot where it is now, and the after shot on the transfer track. There you'd see 2/3rds of the train holding their heads or backs in pain while the people who were smart enough to grab middle seats would be all smiles. :)

Xcelerator's is horrible. Half the time, they don't sell the photos that are taken because the sun's beam causes glare on the lens, because the camera is out in the open (base of the first drop). In addition to that, people that are in the second row of each car have their faces blocked by the tall "racing" headrests in front of them...

The old SFNE cyclone photo was horrible. It was somewhere on the first hill but after the turn, when you get jerked out of your seat and pushed to the side at the same time. Everyone on the ride was commenting how they looked "constipated" in their photo, not to mention everyone was leaning to the side, trying not to get hurt. =)

The new location is better for photos, towards the end of the ride, but on a regular airtime hill where everyone looks upright, but still thrilled.

Great Bear's on-ride photo in Hersheypark bothers me. They take your picture while the train is breaking, right before it turns into the station. The ride is practically over and then they take the pic. Ofcourse I bought it to add to my collection but I still think it wasn't the best place for the photo.

Great Bear definitely. No flash, just flood lights I see spots still.

I like where Sonny's is. Great for hamming it up.

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

I agree, Great Bear has a HORRABLE location for it's on-ride. It's a straightaway so you're not going to get any really exciting photos. Plus, if you are sitting on the far right and you have your hands out at all you will hit the camera stand with them. Eek.

I'm not a big fan of on-ride photos that take the pics of just about 1/2 the train at a time (i.e. Kraken) I guess that would be nice if you had a bunch of friends on the same train though....

Xcelerator has always been selling photos when I'm there. They even take photos of test runs (they never turn the eqy=uipment off). The sun effect you are talking about affects the TV monitors 10X more than the photo, and the photos are so cool at sunset with the palm trees in the backround.

Yeah, when i bought an on ride photo on the great white, in wildwood nj, they gave it too me on a piece of printer paper, not even photo quality paper, and for the amount of money i paid , i would never buy one from there again, but the location of the camera was in a cool location just as you drop down a series of airtime hills.

They sure thought people would want a nice picture of their restraints on Volcano, LOL. Right off the launch when your head's being pinned back, often times we'd get off & try to get our picture, but always, one of us is always obscured;(.......

I wish Millenium Force's cameras were at the bottom of the first hill when everyones face is peeled back from the wind...I think that would be a great picture.

I don't like BKF's camera. It's set up in a way that they queeze all 4 seats into one photo, meaning that you can barely see any detail in the riders.

I particularly dislike Medusa at SFGADV's on-ride photo. It is in a good location, but the quality of the shot is very poor. But I must say that I absolutely LOVE GASM's on ride photo. Never have I seen such a perfect photo that clearly showed the expressions on the riders faces! Honorable mention goes to Woodstock Express at Cedar Point. I just about bought the picture..

SOB's is in a lousy place. You look like you are ready for a nice smooth ride. HARDLY!!! Also Shivering Timbers at MAdv is hard to be ready for since it is after all the bunny hops before the big loop at the end. The picture is vertical, and the frame they put it in is horizontal!! Not CP quality either!!
