Is it Possible....for Underwater Coasters??

I was wondering if it was possible for a whole coaster to be underwater. I was thinkin how tight that would be and everything. It would just a a big glass case covering it but like you get shoot by LIMS underwater and do all sorts of inversons...just like FoF. How sweet would that be!~!

Do you realize how much SWEET cash it would take do to this? lol.

First it needs to needs to be a man made lake... First the Glass tubing is laid, track is placed, then the wires and stuff is done, then the huge hole is filled with water. That would be the only way...

I've often wondered about this idea. Clear acrylic tubing and such. I must agree that it has to be terribly expensive to implement and maintain such a coaster. Imagine the logistical issues: Stress on the structure, water pressure, ventilation, disembarking a train in the advent of an emergency, etc. I must admit though, it would be cool!

At least a small underwater tunnel might not be all that unlikely...it certainly would be unique :)

It's not even technically underwater. It's just a regular concrete tunnel surrounded by water...

An "underwater" coaster wouldn't necessarily have to be underwater. It's track could run along large aquarium windows and maybe feature a clear tunnel or two go through or under the water. a ride like this would fit perfectly in a park like Seaworld.

The big problem would be the speed that you are traveling at. At 35 miles per hour you are covering 50 feet per second. With limited sight distance underwater, it would probably all be a blur unless it was on the roll into or out of the station.

SFMM has coasters that go under water. Can anyone name them?

edit: Log Jammer is a terrible name, unless the ride is based on a South Park re-creation of a Steve Irwin show....

I would like to see a loop under the water ala Anaconda's tunnel.

Who says you would need to drain a lake to accomplish this anyway? The tunnel could be dropped down in pieces, assembled, and then pumped dry.

Think of this though, would it really be worth it? Lake water isn't crystal clear (especially at Cedar Point ). Even if a tunnel was made, the park would have to keep the water clean day in and day out for it even to be worth it.

It's like that on any tunnel (think Magnum). It wouldn't make a difference under water. It actually adds to the effect and the excitement of the ride
