What about NITRO??

Is this just a rumor or is SF Great Adventure getting a new coaster called Nitro?
I cannot find anywhere on their site any information on this new contraption and have not seen any pictures of the track or design..what gives?

ya know!!!! Its taking them forever to announce it.

REALLY! Seems like it should be announced by now... For those of us not on this site recently...The ride Nitro at SFGadv will be a B&M hyper, rumored heights anywhere from 200 to 320 ft, most commonly 215 or 275. We do know it is being built with a 300 ft crane. A popular rumor surronding it is that the lift would use a launch aabout halfway up. This is definitely going to be a winner, and im looking forward to it almost as much as X

To clear up some confusion:

Nitro will be a B&M Mega coaster.

Nitro will NOT have a launched lift hill -- it will be standard chain lift.

It will be around 211' tall, nothing more.

First drop should be 66º.

Almost exactly one mile of track.

Two trim brakes.

Three train operation.

Blue supports, yellow spine, fuschia "rails/track ties."

That's about it for now, and remember, all the above are...guesses. Wait 'til the announcement for the confirmed stats, as always! ;)

Does anyone know where there are pics of at least the track?
You would think they already started construction at this point and there must be some pics somewhere or some news.
Heck,I'm close enough..I'll go over with a camera,camcorder and binochulars and peek through the fences!

I live near Six Flags Great Adventure and they always take a while to make new ride announcements. For example Medusa wasn't announced until the very end of January. I also think that Nitro will definitely be taller than 211', most likely 240 ft at the least.

Legendary, where are you getting those stats?

This site was the only site to have the news so when I tried to see pics it wasn't happening.

A while back, someone posted the measurements of Nitro's supports, here was my reply to that:

If the width of the supports is any clue (Bob mentions on his site that the supports for medusa are 24" with a height of 140') that means a width of 42" would yeild a height of 245'!! (if the ratio is the same) That would make for the largest B&M by far!! Anybody know how wide the supports for Raging Bull are?

That's a good guess coastergenius, be a wee bit too high with the heigh estimate, and a little too long with the length estimate. I wish it was that tall! Wow, could you imagine a 270' B&M Mega? That thing would be incredibly long because B&M seem to like to use most of the coasters energy before hitting the final brakes. Seems like complete opposite of Intamin, who loves hitting the brakes faster than most coasters can even get to. ;)

Keep the guesses coming, we'll see who was closest when they announce!

Remember, SFGAdv wouldn't even let B&M tell about Nitro when they had a coach on display at IAAPA, the Swiss duo were careful to label it as a "concept car". This was after folks started discovering B&M track in the parking lot.

As for stats, I'm not gonna hazard a guess, just wait for the announcement.

This is totally second hand, and may be untrue (but nevertheless from People Who Know(tm)), Cedar Point approached B&M about Millennium Force. Apparently, they felt it was too tall of a project to get involved with.

Just hearsay... thought I'd mention it.

If Millennium Force had used the same support system as other B&M's, which from what I've seen uses just a bunch of thick poles rather than a criss-cross, grid-type thing seen in Arrows and Morgans, it would look awful. I've often thought about that.

MF's structure is just awesome, especially for the first hill. To this day, every time I see one of those huge electrical towers (in the shape of an upside-down Y), I think of MF.

I heard a little different story than the one jeff heard. My source said B&M would have built it, but the cost would have been substantially higher than $25M.

I think if B&M had built MF it wouldn't have had an 80º drop, it would have had a block brake, it would have used a hulk-esque type lift hill (again, this info from my source), and it most assuredly would have had trims all over it. I'd be willing to bet that there would have been many more elements to the ride also.

As to the question would it have been better or worse? Well, the world will never know. :)

Well, maybe..if B+M decides to take a crack at it in the near future.
