There is also rumor that PKI came to CCI on building SOB, and CCI didn't want to get involved with the loop.
john,
makes sense, I've also heard CCI doesn't like to mess with really tall woodies.

You build it, I'll ride it...eventually
240ft, 240ft drop. Just a guess on my part, but in my mind, it should be significantly taller than Medusa, otherwise it might as well be the same experience without the inversions. You'll need to feel the speed on that baby!

I just hope it's alot better then Magnum and Steel Force.
I enjoy those 2 coasters an awlful lot and if it is better then I will have a new passion.

If Nitro is anything like Raging Bull or Apollo's Chariot (which, it kind of is... ;)), it's going to be a fantastic coaster. I am pretty sure I'll like Nitro better than both Magnum and Steel Force, as it looks to be on par with Raging Bull and Apollo's Chariot. Those two coasters are in my top 10 (which changes every moment, mind you).
I wouldn't be surprised to see Nitro taking my favorite hyper overall this year!*
*Nevermind, I forgot I have ridden SRoS at SFNE. Nitro most certainly won't beat that one out! But I'll be the first to admit it if it does.

LoL, sorry...it's good to have a B&M Mega at my home park of SFGAm! Hey, you Californians aren't doing too bad over there with...um...what coasters do you have again? ;) Just kiddin', I'm making the trip out to CA again late May, so there better be some good ones! Looking forward to Medusa, Stealth, Goliath, STE the most (been on all other SFMM coasters). Oh, and Deja Vu, but I'll be on that one all summer at SFGAm.
BTW, I think Knott's is going with Intamin, not B&M. Yeah, yeah, you can stop crying now. :)

If Knott's does go with Intamin, I hope its an inverted Intamin. Possibly LIMS? Bah, only a dream.
Another website reported back in August or September that a ride magazine published an article stating Great Adventure was going to build a coaster similar to the Apollo's Chariot coaster.
Great Adventure displayed crates of bolts with the lables clearly marked "B Mega Coaster" back in September during their Coaster Celebration weekend.
They had to drag them out of their wharehouse with a lift to put them on display in an arc.It was very obvious they wanted some attention drawn to it.
Thrillride has ALL the pictures .Look in the news sections from September 14, 2000. That is where the crate pictures are.
In December ThrillRide posted a quick, anonymous email that to me sounds the most likely to be the truth. I also believe it was sent by someone who is involved with Great Adventure. The height will be the same of Apollo's Chariot, that has a maximum drop of 210' , only Great Adventure's coaster will be around 2000' longer than Apollo's 4,882' length.
Maybe B builds to this 200' limit because
- the parks have a limit they must follow
- B is pacing what they sell so that in ten years they still have a new product to peddle.
- I heard from an Cedar Point employee who cleaned up the debri that fell daily from Millennium Force, he was talking to a buddy of his on the C.P.& L.E. Railroad ride, that there was still "problems" with the coaster wich he would not specify, so that busy bodies could not spread information;). That was just before the Fourth of July weekend.
I believe B might not want to commit to a giga size yet because the wheels available today cannot handle the wear and tear, and B are perfectionists.
THIS STUPID CHECKER THING EDITS OUT BEE AND EM! I CAN'T EVEN PRONOUNCE THE MANUFACTURE'S NAMES LET ALONE SPELL THEM!!!!:)

I think the height of Nitro will be around 220, Then they could claim it the tallest coaster in North East U.S., thats just my guess.

#1: Millennium Force
#2: Raging Bull
#3: Tie B:TR/Raptor
#4: Viper (SFGAm)
#5: Goliath/Magnum
I thought B&M labeled their hyper coaster "mega", also. If six flags wanted to take a run at a height record, Nitro is their horse. Most Flaggers arleady got their hyper, and the flags most likely wont have any pull double duty on the hypers (like CP) for awhile... except for SFMM and X... but thats another story ;)!
regarding wheels... it seems to me that todays wheels are doing fine for MF and SD2000.

I'm 2 for 2 so far!!!

Yes, you're correct, B&M refers to their over 200' coasters as Mega Coasters. Not speed coasters, hyper coasters or anything else. Intamin's and Giovanola's are the same.
No height record for Nitro, but maybe in the Northeast. Talles over there is what, 208 for Supes at SFNE? I think it'll beat that.

Well Steel Force at Dorney tops at 205 ft so it could be bigger than that.
I hope it is alot better than Medusa..I guess I missed the whole ride on that one..just didn't click with me.
I had a much better experience on Batman:Knight Flight at SFO..everyone tells me they are exactly the same but I beg to differ..
It seemed Batman was a better ride.
