" X " Featured on Travel Channel

I'm sitting here Sunday night watching a 30 minute Travel Channel special on one coaster : " X ". I've never had the chance to ride it, but it looks like quite an experience. The engineering on those counter rotational seats is pretty clever. Alan Schilke of Arrow, who designed it, was interviewed throughout the show. Do those of you who have ridden this coaster think it's as cool as it looks ?

Yeah that was a good feature on X. I wish they had spent a little more about the development. I didn't realize the concept came about over 8 years ago. I really hope Arrow can survive.

It was very interesting how they showed hte 4 rails and showed the black prototype ride in Arrow Dynamics shop.

The experience on this coaster is so fun and disorienting but not dizzying. The first drop is IMO the best part.

It looks even more impressive in person.....still can't tell you how it rides....OUCH...

My opinion is..why hype up a coaster when it ISN'T running yet? They shouldn't have shown so much footage of it..it gives a false sense to the GP who will go to SFMM to ride it only to get there and find out it isn't open..like taking candy from a baby--here ya go...NOPE sorry you can't have it!

Do you have a brain? Having The Travel Channel shoot the documentary when the ride was seen to have no problems and then having it air on a certain day (which also happens to be when the ride is down) is out of Magic Mountain's control.

And how the hell does a documentary become an advertising agent "Oh come ride this now"

It was a great feature, but it hurt so much, because when I finally got to visit SFMM on the 19th of this month, X was down. =( =( =(

What exactly do you mean by "X is open now?" Has the ride re-opened or did you mean that it was open at one time? Just curious.

According to other websites, it is still testing at the moment. Which says that it is not open to the public again yet.

And does anyone know if these West Coast coaster programs will be aired again on Travel Channel anytime soon??

I was at work last night and missed them.

I feel you Adam McNeil, I live 750 miles away from LA, and when I was at the Mountain on June 18th, X had to be closed. That show rubbed it into me so bad that it hurt. The coverage of X was excellent in my opinion, I now understand how the 4 rail system makes the seats rotate, and I understand how the restraints are, those are pretty cool. The second show of the three was the best in my opinion, it also had coverage of Medusa, Roar, V2, and Invertigo which is really rare for these coaster shows.

No, I didn't personally like the attitude regarding my post..and yes I do have a brain.
The Travel Channel could have simply edited and said "Due To Open Soon" or along those lines...or have chosen to air a different coaster show..I'm sure they are "aware" of the circumstances regarding "X".
The media is fully responsible for anything that they air..why do you think Sf pulled all advertising for X?

If you are going to sit there and crucify someone for their OPINIONS on a message board, then apparantly you don't have a brain. Maybe you need another hobby and stop acting like you know it all.
